Hey guys....., what's your experiences with this Fumoto drain valve? I just installed mine on @15k miles schedule oil change and it looks alright but I fear that an accidental bump on something may get my engine oil pouring out. Unfounded fear?

Put a 5/8" (I think) spring clip on there. It keeps the lever in place. Google it. I've had mine for 50k so far and no issues.

umm...I'll goole it. (update) Found it. Thanks! 5/8 Hose clip to secure the lever :locked:!

May be this is unnecessary but I'm thinking about wrapping it with something to avoid oil, salt, and dirts from clogging it.

Cool man they make oil changes a breeze. The clip's probably overkill, but it gives me peace of mind. I wouldn't worry about it getting clogged.

Have used the fumoto valve on all my vehicles for the past 10 years and have never had a problem or failure. Sure makes oil changes MUCH easier and less messy.

My first oil change is coming up on my 2013 Taco, currently at 4900 miles and plan to install the fumoto.

I've never had one but have considered switching at my next oil change. Curious if you plan to use the N (nipple)series or not, don't know if it makes change/access easier.

I have the one without the hose nipple and it's a good bit above the stock skid plate. Not a chance of snagging.

I was gonna buy one, but then I read that the drain valve threads too far into the pan, part of the stud protrudes up into the pan by like 3/8" or something. Because of this, it doesn't allow for all the oil to drain out.

Hmmmm. I have been going back and forth on getting one. This never dawned on me. Can anyone confirm? Wonder how much it matters too. You're always gonna have a little dirty oil mix in that's throughout the engine.

I don't know about that, but I always get 5+ quarts drained

It would be easy for someone who owns one to check. Measure the length of the threaded stud and compare it to the length of the inner pan threads.

The tiny bit of oil left in an engine using the Fumoto Valve is so negligible after it is diluted with 5+ quarts of fresh oil. There are lots of people on here that have been using them for years with no issues.

Even with the drain plug you don't get all the dirty oil out.

Over the years, I've had the valves with the nipple and without and most of the time I haven't bothered to attach a hose to the nipple. I just open the valve and let the oil drain into pan until it stops.

I would never go back to dealing with loosening and tightening the oil drain plug again. Not sure why so many people "overthink" these fumoto valves but to each their own I guess.

I've had one on my 99 for a few years now. I love it. Only complaint is that the oil drams pretty slow. Oh well. I will be changing my oil pan within the next couple months. When I have the pan off I will see how much the fumoto protrudes into the pan.

These things make changing oil with aftermarket skid plates a breeze.
I can't imagine all the suckers removing 50+ pound skid plates every time they do an oil change. I have a hose on my "nipple" model valve and run it through the IFS skid drain hole.

I do a lot of off-roading and I have never had a problem. The valve is up under the skid so nothing can hit it.

The oil does drain slow so I always make sure the engine is hot so the oil is thinner and comes out faster.

Got a open style on the wall,,still in the bag.

Pops had one on his Cessna Lycoming 230HP. The Lycoming drain valve was $110. Fumoto was $35 at that time. Same part minus the small FAA certified hole($$) drilled in the lever to saftey wire it closed.

I installed one (nipple type) at my 30K oil change...now approaching 50K, no issues. Agree with the others that the oil drains really slow...but it makes oil changes so damn easy. I also used a bonded seal, instead of the washer that comes with the valve...no leaks.

This is probably true, but it would just bother me. I'm the type that once I pull the plug I let it drain for at least 30 minutes or until no more drips out. Just knowing that there would be an unnecessary puddle on the bottom of the pan every time I changed my oil would drive me crazy. Thats just me though.
