Badass! Details on the KK2.1 flight controller? What class is this for? Have any multi-rotors of your own?

Flew the Phantom a bunch this weekend - such a fun quad. Also took out the U818A again. Forgot just how different that one flew.

Thanks! The KK2.1 is a hobby class controller. It has about 20 different layouts preprogrammed (hex, tri, quad, H8 etc). Super user friendly. Took less than an hour to program and fly. Has self level as well. Well worth the $40!!

I don't have any multi rotors of my own but I would like to build my own once I'm done with school in May. From what I've read the Phantom is one of the best quads you can buy.

 

Nice! I'll have to look into it. So far, my only experience has been with DJI's NAZA series and I love what I've seen so far.

That's what I read and I have to say, this is by far the most stable quad I've ever flown. Has me really itching to get the Zenmuse gimbal and a GoPro, but I'm forcing myself to get at least 20 flights or so in and master the unit itself before adding anything else to it.

I would guess my next multi-rotor will be one that is custom-built. That seems to be the next logical step for me. Now, if I had the coin, I'd go for the DJI S800, but that's getting far too serious for me and way out of my price range.

I have to say, I had a rock solid Wraith and a bombproof SCX10 Honcho and there wasn't a single get together/trail that I felt I needed something else.

I've got a 45t in my scx10 on 2.2s...crawls over almost anything. .just lost a lot of wheel speed for when I play in mud

 

My shit creeps lol..no doubt the torque is there..but man is it slow

 

Would I be better changing some gears to retain my torque but gain some wheel speed back in the low end..I dont wanna go fast..my tmaxx with a big block o.s. does that for me

 

Sweet spot for me was stock gearing with a Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster Pro 35t. Clean it after every run (should you go through water) and it will be the best brushed motor you've ever owned.

That's why having my SCX10, with aforementioned motor and my Wraith with a much faster motor (can't remember the turns off-hand) was an ideal combo.

If you guys aren't afraid of a little custom chassis and drive line work, good and fairly straight forward thing to do would be to take a 2 speed summit transmission and mount it up to your trucks. build custom mounts and driveshafts, and then all you need is a spare channel if you want to be able to remotely shift it.

 

took the e-jato on a wheeling trip this weekend so i could play when people were stuck or figuring their way through tough sections.

with that particular transmission, i have no idea. but it wouldn't be hard if you know how to make parts, and/or source them from other makes/models. just can't be afraid of cutting up the truck a little. i just sugested the summit transmission because it's from an 8th scale truck (a very heavy one) meaning you should have zero strength issues. but if you did break something, since it's traxxas, you know you can go down the road to your local rc shop and they'll have everything you need in stock.

 

Just ordered a Wraith. Here we go.
