Long term investment for the truck. okay so an audio shop in SLC quoted me $3400 for top of the line audio by JL sub speakers and new sony deck. its the best sound system I've ever heard.

but i have 4 semesters of college left before i move to AZ, once i arrive i hope to do wheeling with all of you :)

but for probably maximum $4000 dollars i can get icon stage 4 suspension kit. what should i get.. I'm also looking into cheaper products like Rockford Fosgate. they seem to be good too. opinions ? on what to get ?

Definitely go suspension first. I'd piece together your own audio system and install it by yourself or with help from some members on here. Audio is one of the most overpriced mods you can do

Agree. Also if he just does 2.5 icons and all around, camburg uppers and an all pro leaf pack he should be able to stay under that 4k mark easy. I wouldn't pay for their billet uppers, they look cool but the tubular ones get the job done haha

And I agree but he should go full retard long travel. That's what I would do with $4k

Corndawg just talk to people on here and they can save you a lot of money. Audio can be very cheap if you install yourself.

    X1,000

I paid wayyyy too much to have pioneer speakers installed and a sub.

I installed my second aftermarket HU without issue when I wanted a reverse camera. I also installed 3" tweeters in the doors in the stock location on my own. It cost $35 instead of $200+ easily

The only pain in the ass was splicing in the steering wheel controls to my radio when I did it by myself

I'd go for the suspension. I hear about people's systems getting stolen all the time. At least suspension is waaaay harder to steal.

    ^This

I've seen those billet uppers corrode. The tubular ones are great. Plus if you ever need help with the install, I've installed many mid travel and a couple LT kits so I can def help you there.

Audio is all about how much you are willing to spend for what type of sound you want. Is the stereo shop going to run 14/12g wires to all the doors or use existing? are they going to Sound Deaden the truck for that price? If you have a written estimate send it my way and I'll let you know if you are being ripped off or not.

Rockford high end stuff is very nice and decent price. Low end is 'meh' and the mid range is a decent bang for the buck if you can find deals on it.

JL is a name brand and they are not that great now like they were 10 years ago. Their subs are good, but the rest is over priced for what you get these days. There are much better door speakers for less than JL. JL is just a name now which sucks.

Sony HU's are meh at best. For SQ I'd stick to Pioneer, Alpine, and even the high end JVC's will beat a Sony deck.

As for speakers, for 3200$ you can do A LOT better than JL and Sony. If you do most of the work yourself you can bump up to much better speakers/amps, add sound deadening, run your own wires, etc.
