Now that I finally have a taco on order (long story), I'm shopping wheels, tires, lift and other addons.

I'd really like to go with the larger, wider tire and plan in a 3" ToyTec lift. What I'm trying to understand is exactly _where_ you have to trim and _how much_ do you have to trim to avoid rubbing.

I have a 3" lift on my Xterra from ToyTec sister company Nisstec without UCAs, and I'm wondering if they are needed/required/helpful here. I have more lift questions for a lift thread, but just wondered if any suspension bits aid with rubbing.

I just put 285/75/17 on mine with a 3" ome lift and had to trim some of the front fender well because it was rubbing when I turned. Still running stock uca and the shop wasnt able to get a perfect alignment but good enough for now. With the 16s tho you may not rub much but probably will some.

    Thank you for the feedback!

I'm now looking at 285/70/17 due to the wheels I think I want only coming in 17" and up. Not sure if you meant 70 profile instead of 75, but your point is the same. The part you trimmed, would it be unnecessary with a replacement front bumper like the Allpro APEX?

With a new bumper you wouldn't have to trim any because you would be gettin rid of that piece. I meant 75. I think the 285/75/17 is the perfect size.

You may have to do a cab mount chop and cut off some of your fender flare. Also beat in your pinch weld

After I put the taco lean spacer on for the full 3" lift I dont rub anything, and only would have the small amount of plastic I cut out

If you lift 3in you will definitely not have to chop cab mount or beat the pinch weld, with 285/70 -75/17, only ditch flaps and cut some plastic

I hit bumps while turning and never rub. I dont do any heavy wheelin but I would imagine I would rub if I flexed it more, or ran it harder than I do.

Could one spray something in ones wheel-well that would rub off easy so one could see exactly where one is rubbing? Something that would wash off easy too?

You will be able to tell on your truck. I get black marks on my fender flares where I rub

I'm sure you could spray some WD40 on them. they oily residue might be more visible than a rubber scrape

Im not the expert here but I definitly had to do some trimming on the flares, plastic and do a CMC. Just my .02 cent

^Your wheel centerline sits 1.75" further out than stock. When steering, the tire swings over a larger radius, so it needs more room than with stock wheels. Aftermarket UCAs, in the process of achieving more caster, also cause more rubbing.

So you are saying if I put 285/70/17's on stock UCA's I will not rub anywhere? Or 285/70 on stock rims and stock UCA's?
