On my 2013 Tacoma prerunner 2 wheel drive 2.7L I was changing the 3rd brake light and reverse light out easy. But when I got to the rear brake lights it is like a big flat chip instead of a bulb and does Not fit threw the hole where the bulb would go threw.

Does anyone kn ow how I would change the rear brake lights or how to get the chip thing out?

Why would you replace that? Theirs a circuit board in there because it's an led set up not a regular bulb...

well I tinted my tail lights alittle and wanted to make sure that they were still very bright so I got LED's for the brake lights and the 3rd brake light. so leave circuit board alone and dont worry about the LED's??

Wait, did you not realize that the tail/brake lights on a 2013 are LED's when you bought the truck?
And why are you changing out the bulbs on a new truck? Are you swapping to LED's? (because if so, mission accompished on the brake lights...)

Yea leave the circuit board alone...they're already super bright LEDs in there and my tails are smoked as well...slightly and when I break it looks fine.
You didn't go too dark did you?

Plus it's not plug and play. You would need to unsolder the LEDs and resolder new ones on the board...

Alright well glad I checked on here before doing something I would regret. My tail lights are more like a medium to light grey than anything close to blacked out.

Can someone please explain to me why anyone in their right mind would want to smoke, cover, tint, any form of lights on a vehicle? These are the lights people use to see you at night so they don't run into you? Right?

It boggles my mind when I see Dodge Ram's with their rear lights covered in that stupid Ram logo.

    Darwin?

Dunno, but I wouldn't be surprised if an insurance claim got denied if someone was rear ended and had tinted taillights. :notsure:

Gotcha. I smoked mine lightly because I didn't like the way they looked stock...it still has the same light output. You can barely tell it's been touched

Don't turn this thread into "I don't get why the smoking of lights" thread..

Not sure how that would help make the brake lights more visible when they've been smoked...

I'd deny that claim if I was the insurance adjuster just because the truck was day glow yellow and taking it off the streets would be a public service. :D
