Defcon, thanks for your input. I will be looking to get a +2 LT kit in the future...

Word of warning careful when cutting the pinch welds... mine were notched then folded, then grinded a bit. But after my last desert trip I split the seams and water gets inside on the floor! Should have welded it like Wishbone did! Could have avoided this issue!

Add that to the list of the over-haul items.

I folded mine back with a big set of pliers a little at a time. That is one flimsy piece of metal. I thought it was going to be hard to bend. The only hard part was at the bottom. Once I got it bent over I used a big smooth piece of metal (see picture) and hit that with a hammer. It took me longer to jack up the truck and take off the tires than the whole pinch weld process. No power tools used.

Wow! My welding the way it currently is will definitely leak, but it is under the truck and no electronics in the vicinity. If I were to do this in the front, I probably would have taken more time to prep and be a bit more careful, and then for sure spray with liner to keep the elements out. I think it could be done though, and haven't seen anyone else take this approach, so figured I would share.

Off subject, if you had to choose between the Goodyear MTR's or the Nitto trail grappler M/T for trail riding and a little mud. Which one? and the trails are mostly sugar sand, hills and mud.

A small handful of select mods.
You can always slatter on some RTV over the entire thing (I did this up front) let it dry and then paint it. Sealed! :D

having seen both tires in action a good number of times, but never owned either, I would like to think that this is an unbiased opinion.... if I had to choose one, i'd go with the trail grapplers, however, if you are going to be in a lot of sugar sand, the MTR will perform better, so it sounds like for your needs, the MTR is the better tire.

Come to think of it, fitting 35s with LT & 2.5" lift was really easy. Hammer that pinc weld, and around the fender well a bit, trim the fenders, cut the cab mount, and you're good to go.

I'm leaning towards the MTR's myself. I'm very indecisive especially with the price tag

Can anyone measure the width of the stock front fender flare at the vertical center of the wheel? Just put some new coilovers in, and trying to dial it in to 3", but hard to figure that out since my flares are cut. So I need to figure out how much I've cut off my flare (should be close to 3", but who knows).
