I think that the high resale value sucks. I have to pay an annual property tax of about $40 per thousand of book value -5000. The sooner my Tacoma is worth less than 5 grand the sooner I stop being taxed.

$40.00 per thousand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus Christ dude, that's sucks..... I guess your not pickin up a range rover;). My reg in CA was about $250 or so. WOW I'm just amazed the state legislature does not do something to lower those fees. With gas and food prices rising the average american will have less money to save and invest, I would be in front of the grocery store with a petition to lower fees if I had to pay that much.

You could always trade it in for a Dodge Caravan:cool:. You won't want pay tax on that after the first year!

In california they call it a VLF avoiding the words"property Tax" and Arnold saved us from super high VLF fees. Just another reason to vote GOP!

F that! It's actually funny, considering why this great nation originally fought for it's independence.

holy crap...and I'm bitching about having to pay $1800/yr on a $275k home  But it's all relative...in Alabama, I was paying $900/yr on a $150k home that was a helleva lot nicer than the one That I have now...

Has nothing to do with that. Some things cost money and you need taxes in order to pay for them. I hate taxes with a passion but it's the unfairness of it all and the way our government throws money around. I'm a huge Fairtax supporter and I believe everyone should pay their fair share and it shouldn't bee the top 10% wage earners paying 30% of the taxes.

BTW, you pay a MUCH higher property tax than we do in SC (I'm from NJ and have family in PA). I paid $469 FOR THE YEAR on my $173K house. Just got my car tax today and it's $340 for the year. So, believe me when I say I don't mind paying the car tax considering the property taxes I'd be paying on a house in NJ.

I get that taxes are necessary, but the government with money is like a 16 year old with a credit card.

I do have high taxes, but it depends where you live. I live in a college town with a good school system. Nearby agricultural areas pay significantly less than I do. On the other end, areas closer to Pittsburgh pay way more than I do.
