i agree. i shot some bumper bar video andam not a fan of it. no refference point. i usually like the videos that i've shot from right the roof, right above the driver.

It's not cheap by any means, but imagine the possibilities. Just leave the cam in preview all day! I wonder how many cameras you can run off of the iphone app.

 

it's not cheap, but it's still only half the price of the camera itself. that would just be so convenient to have. you wouldn't even have to worry about turning it off on your phone during between recordings.

It looks like the $60 solution includes just the false battery and the female plug. We will have to build the wiring that comes from the power source to the male connector.

I have this exact battery in my gun safe. It has the needed male plug on it and will run the gopro for much longer than we need.

The connectors that are used with the battery eliminator are common to cctv systems so finding parts will be a snap. Ebay will be your friend.

toss on an extra one of the $60 deals if you don't mind. from my understanding, that will take a straight 12v input and drop it down to whatever the GP runs off of. in that case, i'm just going to run power to the blue sea box with a watertight disconnect. that was i jsut plug the camera in and go whenever i need it. i'm going to skip the polymer or ion battery pack route. i have enough batteries to worry about keeping charged on the trails with the RCs, so being able to run it from the truck will be great.

 

The new Hero 3 line with wifi is about as good as it gets. I can mount my gopro anywhere on the truck and leave only the wifi on. From the gopro app I can turn the camera on and see what the camera is seeing. I can then hit the record button. The app also allows you to change every setting on the gopro remotely without having to flip through the small screen on the camera.

It's pretty sweet.

 

I'm assuming you'll want one of the $12 adapters so you can run a 512gb SD card, right? With unlimited power you'll want more storage space.

 

I had set one of these wifi ones up for my boss (very tech challenged), and I must say it was pretty smooth how it all worked.

The Hero 3 is nice but the price is crazy. I'll be buying a sony AS15 instead. Same video quality as the gopro with better battery life and half the price.

 

Dropped the drive shaft off at the shop. Only $140 to have it re-tubed.
