When you pull the axle you'll see that the seal is flush to the outer part of the carrier, The bushing is flush to the inside surface of the carried just like the needle bearing. Also, if you install a new seal make sure the plastic inside lip is slightly lubricated with a little grease. If not the axle will tear up the seal. (per ECGS)

Because I was erring on the side of caution, I drove my bushing in until almost flush, maybe a millimeter or two out from flush. The printed directions were kind of ambiguous. Truck is still sitting in the garage since I did the bushing, because when I was changing out my springs and struts at the same time, the top hat on one of the assemblies had been loose for years. The strut had worn an oblong hole into the sub assembly (top hat) and I'm waiting for a new one to arrive.

Do you think this is going to be a problem? I really don't want to tear into the driver's side again, but I do want to do this right.

mine didnt end up being perfectly flush either, it is very close tho. It went all the way in real smooth and then just kinda stopped making progress. and I was giving it some good whacks... so i left it and put everything back together. test drive was fine. i'll be asking ecgs about it tho. I'll keep ya posted

Yeah It is flush with the lip like the needle bearing was. I still have a vibe but it is not constant. It is a on and off sound\vibe. 35-40 is most noticeable. Does anyone have any ideas please. im going crazy trying to figure this out! Thanks guys

Does it go away when you put it in 4WD? I'd honestly take mine to the dealership if I were you. You may have bigger issues in your differential if the bearing didn't fix it like it has for most everyone else.

My bushing didn't take all the vibes away either. ECGS told me that some people have the same results as 13TRDsport & I. This isn't unusual. It won't hurt the truck; but the only way to really fix it is with another diff.

If we get another Toyota one, we might just get more of the same. I'm just learning to live with it for now. Eventually I'm going to regear and go with lockers. Then my problem will go away altogether.

If you put the bushing in the same as the bearing it will be fine. The bushing is longer to give the axle more support. If it's out a little, I don't know. It may rub against the axle flange. Have you driven it yet? If you look at the video closely you'll see that he used his finger to check that the bushing is square and flush with the carrier. Call the ECGS and ask them?????

I just drove mine out if the garage and parked it until my "front suspension sub assembly" aka the top hat, arrives on Monday from Camelback. One of mine had an oblong hole worn into it from 8 years ago when I put a spacer lift in. Guess the nut on that strut wasn't tight. I'll just pop the drivers cv again and drive it in till it's flush. Then as soon as I get everything back together I'll test drive it.

The bushing can hang out of the carrier about a 1/4 inch with out causing any problems. But flush is best. If your driver is larger then the bushing then it will hit the carrier before it goes in to far.

What if it goes in a little far? Like 1/32" or a scoche more?

I pulled the CV again, and drove it in a little further. Still not perfectly flush, I can catch my fingernail on it going side to side, but in more than yesterday. I didn't want to over drive it, and it was taking some serious hits to get it in as much as I did. Good to know there is some room for error though, thanks!

If you drive it in too far, you will have problems getting the removal tool behind it to get it out again if you ever have to.

Well it's already in! 1/32 is less than 1mm. I think it'll be ok.

For giggles, I lowered my stock to stock height and sure enough vibe was gone, lifted it back up and it's back. Proves that bringing it to dealership would be useless! Maybe one day soon I will put this bushing in..

I have had a OME lift on my truck for about 6000 miles and it started having the rumble strip effect thing last week. I had ECGS replace the bearing in the front with there bushing and this fix the problem. Lucky for me they are right down the road. [IMG]
