Yes, that's the plan. I wouldn't make the drive up there without camping. You? So far, that weekend is available for me.

I don't blame you. I'm just going to do a low profile camp in a non-designated area somewhere up top. If this group gets any bigger, it's going to take us longer than we think to get up top especially if we start the trail around 9am.

That's what I thought but if the group is too big, I don't mind going the front way.

If you meet in the middle, you're just in the town of Crown King. I don't recommend trying to come downhill on the 4x4 back way or you'll just constantly run into traffic head-on on a one-lane trail.

If you guys want to 4x4, go the back way behind Lake Pleasant. If you want 2wd prerunner style on a road you could take your mom's Honda CRV, go the front way through Bumble Bee.

oh I didn't think everyone would go the backway.. correct me if im wring. i just assumed...

although im sure most 2wd's could make it with some skinny pedal through some of the areas, 1) thats a lot of trucks on that trail that sees traffic both ways, and 2) not sure "tread lightly" that would be.. ya know.

Meh. I'm willing to do that. I did some pretty hard trails last week to some Indian ruins in the Prescott National Forest so I'm down for some easy stuff if there's a group that wants to join me? Plus it would be good to make two groups. A lot of you guys have good points about how long the trail will take if we all go together. Maybe we can get lunch at a halfway point or wherever.

yeah the front way is the commuter route for the people and deliveries headed up to the town of Crown King. It's a regularly graded dirt service road that for the most part is 2+ lanes wide. Only a couple small spots where you pass through some quick slots that are one car wide because you have walls on both sides.

That road used to be the old railroad path, so trains used to make it up that way.

well, this is what im thinking, but, this isnt my Run so im not going to make anyone do anything. lol

4wd guys go the backway, 2wd go the front way, we meet up at CK, have lunch/brews at the Saloon, then head back.

I'll be heading out the front way into Spring Valley at the end of the day.
