    Brand new. Coming soon.
Plasti-dipped my truck's roof between the channels two years ago. It's been through 100+ degree summers, rain, wind, hail, sleet, ice, snow, bird poop, and fall leaves. No problems at all. I've also plasti-dipped my tire's inside-mounted white-walls so you don't see them under the truck.

Very happy with how it's all held up.

CP....just spray it....once cured, it peels off on it's own with just a little effort.

Just peel it when its done spraying. Keep an exacto knife with you if it is too dry and starts to peel the rest off. If you time it right, it peels off alone.

Good Luck! Post picks when you are finished!

My Gunmetal Grey Kit just came in. Got my new spray gun. Waiting on my black tint to come in so I can darken the gunmetal grey just a bit. Then I'm doing a complete truck plasti dip. Kinda nervous about doing it all, but It's all looking cool in my head... I think.

    Lol

dipyourcar.com has a ton of colors and options. You guys check it out. Also if you have enough coats than it will be easy to peel back, when it comes time you want to peel it, but it can withstand high pressure washers and car washes.

Post pics when you're done!! I'd like to do my whole truck but idk yet. I've heard that it has to be re-done once a year or so. I'll have to look into it more

Everyone has reasons for and against. Here are my reasons for:

    It's a brand new truck (3 months old). I'm not a mudder or a serious off-roader, but...

    1. Plasti dip acts as a protector. Rock dings, branch scrapes, kids... Will keep the paint job underneath from getting all dinged up for a longer period of time.

    2. It's a cool customizer. There are several trucks that look like my setup. I've already dipped my front grill and bumper as well as my emblems and rear bumper. It's different than the others.

    3. I think the matte look is cool. I'm going with a darker gunmetal grey, but still matte. Done right, it will definitely be something no one has really seen around here. I'm also putting on a different trd off road art decal. [IMG]

    4. I'm looking to make some extra cash on the side by doing bumpers and hoods for rock protection (clear gloss). Also, customizations for rims, emblems, racing stripes, fun full body colors, etc... Thought that by doing a full body on my own vehicle would be good mobile advertising (and good practice).

As for taking it off each year, thats not really true. Touch ups might be necessary, but you can wash it just like anything else. If it's taken care of and not abused it can last several years. Besides, the fun in changing to another color or design for cheap is a plus as well. I've already had people curious about the changes I've made already. And I've only spent (8 cans at $7) 60 bucks to do so.

There will always be some that don't like what I do, but I'd almost bet given the right color and finish, they'd loved theres done too.

Anyone ever heard of this stuff? Looks like Rustoleum Plasti Dip.

    7adaqe6u_755402e6146894d8583e9f7fc7d9e9f7fe1ad4f3.jpg

It's a bit more expensive, its $10/can at AutoZone and Plasti Dip is less than $6/can at Lowes

Has anybody dipped nerf bars/ side steps. How did it hold up? My taco came with chrome ones, i dont use them to step into the truck but i would like to leave them on for door ding and shopping cart protection. I was gonna dip my grill and wheels so id like to keep the theme going on the bars.

Oh its gonna come down in price all right. Same type of product but it now comes down to who can provide a more variety of colors without having to mix gallons to achieve a certain color. Will dipyourcar come out with more new colors to be on top of the game or will rusti be able to catch in time to overtake DYC.

anyone plasti dip the chrome grill with the clear stuff to make it a brushed aluminum? I wonder how that would turn out.

I was debating doing the emblems... (maybe grill)

Can I plastidip over plastidip? I did a a black coat on my emblem, but want it red now

Edit: just peeled it off, I was impatient, but someone could still answer question for future reference

Yes, from my experience. I've re-dipped areas without peeling the old dip and it clings to the dry dip fine. I've also peeled up plasti dip that I've dipped over 2-3 times and it comes up like normal. As for using red dip over black I'm sure it will bond just fine. The black dip will act as a primer coat.
