It's my favorite camping place. The rangers work with a local 4x4 club to determine when it's ready to open the gates. Something about it being on a marsh and not wanting to open it until it dries out enough so it doesn't get all tore up.

The gate should be closed and locked in the winter.

Great fishing combined with camp where you want with the sound of the creek nearby and the offroad trail right there.

I see why you feel that way then. It was frozen solid but still beautiful when I was there.

That sign says no camping within a 1/4 mile of that river for the next 1/2 mile.
Hope you spot isn't right there or in that 1/2 mile.

I don't believe it is. But the south end of bunce school is still closed but I'm willing to bet no one in a 4x4 vehicle is making it that far unless it's mealted off a lot. There was a buggy on 40's that didn't even make it to camp dick. I passed him on my atv he laughed and said you just had to go farther. :)

How far could a guy in a trail limo go up there? Wondering if the trail ride would be long enough to warrant the drive there.

You can get pretty far. The snow was deep on Saturday there were jeep crews up there. But they followed the trail of the buggy. He made it pretty far. I would imagine if we keep having this weather you will be able to make it much farther soon. We made it about 45 min in on atv so prolly 1.5-2 hours in a truck because we were doing 35mph through some of it on the Atv's.

I have been on a trail a few years ago that had buggys on 40 turning around, no fun to have to turn around or get stuck. So that trial is not an option for me.

I don't think bashing is very feasible right now till the snow melts a bit more, maybe some time in April.
However, I still would like to do some kind of meet either this weekend or the next. I'm willing to drive.

Top two are bunce school road last Saturday. There is a big turn around where everyone stopped. Those photos are about 1/2 mile past where the jeeps turned around. Stand by I have some of the trail before the turn around it's not terrible it's passable.

Now there are some deep spots through out but all should be ok for the Tacoma to go through just fine.

Sorry, couldn't determine which trail you all are talking about. Down by the springs? Thinking about camping around Deckers this weekend and gettin some fly fishing in but wouldn't be opposed to making a couple hour trip to hit some trails.

THe talk has been about Bunce school Rd. near nederlands/Boulder but Metberry Gulch is near deckers. Not sure if it is open, but have heard that is a cool place that should be runnable this time of year if it isn't closed.

Metberry Gultch and etc have a gate but we've never seen it closed. So should be open.

And if not, I'm pretty sure the road to Eagle Rock is open from that side and we'd be up there anyway so just run down there haha

You or any else on here fly fish that section of river by Metberry? Just curious if it's gotten better since the fire.
