Isn't one of the bulbs easier than the other. I also think there is a difference between the light pattern but I don't know which is better

The install of the projector and bulbs is the same. The H1 just has 2 wires sticking out so you have to fill in the rubber boot with something to keep water out where as the D2S needs to have the rubber boot cut a little wider so it fits over the bulb.

The light patterns are a little different and you could debate for hours which one is 'better'. The H1 is wider and has brighter 'hot spots' if you will where as the D2S is a little narrower (not by much) but has a more even light dispersement. It's all personal preference but, unless you're a lighting snob, I doubt you'd notice the difference between the 2.

I'm recovering! I only have one set of lights for the new truck so far :anonymous:
Base pricing is very similar. D2Ss are OEM size so the upgrades are a lot more expensive than the H1s. The H1 upgraded bulbs were only $30 or $35 where as the upgraded Philips D2S bulbs add like $150ish to the price and you can upgrade them to OEM ballasts for another bizillion dollars if you wish.

As far as availability, generally TRS has both but you'd have to check with them to see if either kit is backordered. They usually have them on hand as they are their two more common kits. Availability can be difficult if you're going fancy and wanting S2K or LS460 projectors from what I've heard.

Oh yeah, and if you go through TRS, check TW for discount codes. They usually have discounted pricing for TW members that will save you some $$.

And how many days did you have the truck before you ordered those?

I had it for a solid week! I can't help the timing of certain group buys :)

It was just a little fix, they don't count. That being said... I'm going to be ordering PIAA headlight bulbs and Nokya fog light bulbs probably this summer and I hope that will be it for lighting. I won't put a light bar on this truck, it's long enough already and I like the unmolested front end the way it is so that significantly limits where and how many lights can be added.

I liked the H1 pattern better anyways and, being that they were cheaper, I went for the upgraded bulbs. I was really happy with the outcome.

The more expensive OEM bulbs and ballasts make the bulbs 'heat up' quicker when you first fire them and they'll resist the color shift that inevitably happens to all HID's over time.

Said the alcoholic about his row of shots...

I figure if I leave my lighting setup alone, I'll be unique in that mine's still stock. :D
