AR parts sprayed (Duracoat: Blackhawk Coyote Tan) and curing. Going to wait the full 4 week recommended curing time before I assemble, which gives me plenty of time to acquire a bolt carrier assembly and a compensator.

do you have to avoid getting overspray inside the receivers to preserve internal dimensional integrity?

i just installed my spikes tactical dynacomp. actually works really well and looks good for fairly cheap (considering other comps)

I'll find out soon enough. The most critical dimensional integrity lies with the barrel extension which didn't get painted. As for the channel in the upper receiver where the bolt carrier slides, worst case scenario: I drown the bolt carrier in BreakFree CLP and manually cycle it a few hundred times to loosen it up.

While I do have a healthy supply of .223, I'd rather hand cycle it and save the ammo for zeroing the optics.

welp...false alarm on the upper. they shipped part of my order. upper has yet to leave, even though the website has marked it all as shipped.

on the plus side though, in addition to the BCG and charging handle making it here, they also shipped me 420 rounds on stripper clips instead of 120 loose rounds. told me to keep it and not worry about it. :woot: for me on that one. about a $120 difference on the ammo.

Good to see DIYers out there. Good on you. Definitely post pics when complete! I've just started spraying guns - I went with KG Gun Kote and have been really happy with the results but I'm limited to what I can fit in a toaster oven. Need to build something bigger I guess!

Thanks! I'm the world's worst painter, so I was very leery of attempting this. Fortunately, DuraCoat came out with their two part "can-in-a-can" paint colors. Makes mixing and spraying as easy as possible. No baking required. Only trade-off is long epoxy curing time.
