You don't get jobs by filling out applications. Those are there for those idiots drawing unemployment. Do what you just did; network. It may sound cliche, but it works. Talk to people that work where you want to work. I don't mean the receptionist, I mean the dudes doing what you want to be doing. For instance, my office is looking for an intern. Do you have any interest in becoming a Meteorologist?

mother fuck this! filled out applications for a month, know how i got my internship? My buddy recommended me and i got an interview. You have to give them a reason to bring you in for an interview.

 

Yeah, I have been calling a couple of the small machine shops, but keep getting the receptionist or the HR department which knows nothing about my skills and how valuable I'd be to them.... I have another 5 machines to call tomorrow.... one company I applied for 3 weeks ago and I have called them every other day for last 2 weeks and get their voicemail

 

forget calling them, go in! try to meet the owner, make him remember your face and your attitude

 

for shops...GO there. Talk to the actual owners/mechanics and such.

calls don't do shit.

 

My major is in Computerized Machining Technology... Basically I am going to be a CNC programmer, for hopefully a multi axis lathe and/or mill

 

This is true as well. Well shit I guess the 4Runner is a dying breed

 

My school allows CC. They tried to get rid of it once and everyone flipped out. lol

And I know those job application feelz. I went to a seminar on how to apply for government jobs better so I'm hoping this time around it works out. The first one took 2 weeks to respond.

 

Can I do that with an EE degree and on the job training? haha

 

Try applying to stuff out here when you live in PA

My brother (works for .gov) gave me this advice: Copy pasta the "required" section and then reword it a little. Apparently there are books written on how to get a .gov job.

 

That looks so awesome. Right now is the best time to go. Or in late september or october. In April the crowds <heeps> show up. And then May, well May is no different. After that it is too damn hot there.

Easy there buddy, I sent him a note and said I was interested but expressed the same things I told you.

He responded saying he wanted to talk about it by phone tomorrow. After that, when I read what he wrote in the for sale thread, I wrote again and asked if I was too slow. He just responded a few minutes ago saying he wont know till tomorrow what he's going to do and will let me kno.

Hell yeah. Please invite me when you do.

I was kinda surprised at how bummed I felt. This is difficult because common sense says, I don't need one and shouldn't do this. In fact, I had kinda decided that I wasn't going to get one when we did not upgrade the FP when the bed was off. Looking back, that was a mistake.

To do this is a lot of money, The fuel costs will go up and who knows if 93+ octane will always be available, PLUS, my engine has 135K on it. Am I putting it in jeopardy?

That high speed section on the back side of white rim was so much fun. We had a small taste of what desert running is like. Its a good thing I had my mid-travel setup so I could handle it so well.

 

Ahem... I want a bumper like that. Now that would be money well spent.
