on little by little getting myself into this kind of a hobbie.

Haven't watched an episode since the 2nd one.

Too much like long commercials. Missing the realness and too staged. Not like their first couple of episodes.

    X2..

You don't NEED anything they have to make that drive.. 90% of it can be done in 2WD!

I had grandmas in Taurus's blasting by me up in the Yukon in the dead of winter..

Don't get caught up in the hype; get out and do it!!

yea a stock tacoma could make it up where they are going easily. Hell, ALex went from Southern Cali to Dead horse AK(highest northern point you can drive in AK) in like 2 week or something. Had a blast. He did it in a slightly lifted 96 tacoma with just a bit of armor and a RTT.

If you FEEL like you need all the stuff they have in those shows...then props to them. They are doing EXACTLY what their sponsors what them to do...get you to buy their products.

just get out and do shit. You own a tacoma...your already 90% there.

I agree. Some of the stuff they have is useful but not always needed. If you watch where you are going (just like when you go 4wheeling on trails, etc) you should be good to go. Be prepared for emergencies and have fun.
I think we get caught up in all the cool stuff we can add to our trucks, we forget to just go have fun. When I started offloading, all I had was a shove, some rope, come a long, and some snacks for that day out. Had a great time and got stuck a couple times. Had to dig myself out and get creative to get unstuck.
My tacoma is basically stock, and I still have fun with it.

I can see where you guys are coming from. I personally like
The show to see the places they go to. Being that im from florida
We dont get beautiful places like that, we have our own kind of
Different scenery that can be just as nice but you cant compair
Just because i dont have all the gear they have doesnt
Stop me from getting out on the trails.

What mainly stops me now a days is my daughter being
So young. But once she gets older hopefully she will enjoy
It as much as i do.

They ditched the Chicks in Eps 8, so maybe with just the guys they will do a little more "off-roading".

I did the Alaskan Highway all the way up when I was 7 in a Dodge Explorer camper-van. Even flew up to Barrow. Would love to take the wife and kids and do it as an adult in my truck.

I'm not saying its not beautiful country or a cool adventure. I just meant we can go and do a lot with less gear than they have.

ive always wanted to see alaska. my old man and the womenfolk too. being such a novice and watching things like that does make me think im going to need to spend thousands in crap and prepare for years. though i believe in the saying "victory loves preparation" the more i actually read about peoples' trips to alaska and BC the more i realize that it can be as tough or as easy as you want to make it.

and i dont need $10k worth of crap. a back up battery, some spares, emergency gas... i could probably get this done after a few self trials relatively trouble free!

i was very disappointed to read that the alcans highway is nearly completely paved and mostly straight. :jerkoff:

im going to seriously look into a ferry to homer and then a round about truck trip home to LA within the next few years (as money and time permits)

Just watched episode 9. Wow, I love the tire rotation part. Inflatable air jack, 8 maxtrax, and I hilift to get the job done. Talk about gear overload for a simple task. And then they don't even use a torque wrench to get to spec.:rolleyes:

Did you go to the store, or to the ebay warehouse? The store won't have them. (I checked too and there are none at the store). Since the straps were listed on ebay they will only be at their ebay warehouse location out on Wright Bros Drive.
