    Welcome to the area Kevin.
Newport is a nice place come summer time. There are a few guys on here that live down that way. I'm sure they will chime in.

    Hey Kevin,
I don't get on here too often anymore, but Newport is a pretty good spot to be stationed for a few months, especially in the summer. Lost to do, tons of resturants and bars. When you get up here feel free to shoot me a PM.

    Hey Kevin
What kinda pointers are you looking for? Best one I can think of is.. Learn the back roads quickly... It helps you get around the island(Aquidneck island) much quicker in the summer! Lots of pubs bars and restaurants around. Thames street is great for people watching. Where are you to be stationed? At the coast guard station on ocean drive or on the Naval base?

I believe there is at least one member here that is stationed on the base with a really nice Taco.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
Pugga, I got that battery tie down painted up and installed. Had a ton of corrosion on the positive terminal so I figured it was go time.

One of these days I'll get the iPod adapter installed???

I had mine on my truck for 2 years didn't have any issues with inspections. They were 5000k so white with a slight tint of blue. I had HID bulbs in the stock housing for a year before the retro.

Yeah, stations seem so hit or miss depending on how stickler they want to be. I nearly got flunked one year for having license plate frames that partially blocked "The Spirit of America" at the base of the plates. I get that it's not legal per the MA law, but honestly, 95% of cars these days have them.

Other years I fly through w/o any issues. When I had my old Accord, I got through with hyperwhite turn signals and green reverse lights.

I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about :anonymous: Actually, those were the other 'interests' soaking up my money. Should be good for a while.
Hey, I'm good for something
To the letter of the law, you're not supposed to add HIDs to a vehicle that did not come from the factory with them. That being said, if you use OEM housings, they are DOT stamped and it'd take someone very knowledgeable about Tacoma's to know they never came with HID's (and he'd have to be a real fukin piece of work to fail you on that if they're aimed correctly also). If you set them up properly, aim them properly, you should not have a problem.

I actually almost got flunked for the same BS with the license plate holder also. I had to take off my college plate holder so they'd give me the sticker. That was even at a pretty lax shop also, it sort of surprised me!
Damn man, I figured you'd have all that up and running by now! You can have the Ipod adapter installed in about 15 minutes and run to your glove box.

If your being stationed in Newport in the summer well aren't you lucky, Newport is a wealthy little town with tons of history and things too do. Summer is Newport's season bars, history, tours, food, the scenery is amazing (if you know what I mean. The beaches are nice in southern RI, Newport Beach is full of snobs. Welcome to the area.. Will you have your truck?

Congrats and good luck, I suppose. At least you parted amicably for now.

WTF is a Tinder Account? The only "tinder" I'm familiar with is the sort you use to start a fire, and it doesn't require an account to do it.

    Ah, I see.
No smartphone, and I haven't been single in 10 years, so I'd never heard of it before.
