Could the suspension Gooroos offer me some lift advice?

I have re-searched multiple threads but am possibly more confused than when I started.

I have an 09 DC SB with a cap and have about 150lbs in the bed at all times. I have upgraded to the BFG TKO AT's (265 70 17) and have recently purchased some SCS 6's. Waiting till the spring to mount them.

My truck is a daily driver and I travel 65km's one way, so even though I would love to upgrade to 285's, that is not really an option for me. I do not plan on off-roading. However, I just want a solid ride since I'm in my truck all the time.

That being said, I don't want to lift my truck a full 3" with only 265's but would like to level it and add a smaller lift.

I was considering Bilstiens with Eibachs for the front and a add a leaf in the rear. But can't figure out if that will give me too much lift in the front and was wondering what AAL I should get due to the extra weight in the back.

Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
In my opinion your usage needs (no/limited off-road, just need more clearance for bigger tires) make you an ideal candidate for doing a body lift. You can do a 1", 2", or 3" body lift. They are easy to DIY install and cost effective. Better yet, they maintain the original ride characteristics of the vehicle, you can even keep all the same suspension components.

Probably put an "Add a Leaf" on the rear for a little more stiffness. Or, check to see if you can get in on that TSB Toyota has for replacing your 3-pack rear leaf with a 4-pack.

In the end you'll not have to spend very much, and can do all the work quickly and confidently. You'll have a good looking truck and easily fit those nice BFGs.

For the bilstein 5100 lift kit will you need UCA's if you go 3"?

No. You don't need new UCAs for any 3" lift. But you are pushing the limits of the stock UCAs and proper alignment could be difficult to attain.

You WANT new UCAs. They are designed/engineered for the 3" lifts and provide proper wheel angles for alignment to be achieved.

I recommend this kit for those who don't want that extravagant of a lift now but maybe down the road, they will. Maybe the OP wants a better stance or 285 in the future or his taco becomes his primary off-road rig and needs more ground clearance. With this kit, he can make the adjustments without having to buy another lift kit.

That was easy! Thanks. I'll just have to determine whether or not to get the 1.5" or 2" AAL with the added weight in the back.

I could probably get away with a body lift. Although I think I would prefer a suspension lift. I've been reading a lot of threads that say that the driving quality will improve with a suspension lift if done right. The above mentioned lift looks reasonably priced.

I would also prefer doing the suspension lift, in the event I regretted the body lift first and then had to change it out after words. When it comes to DIY stuff this is way beyond my comfort level. I will end up taking it to a reputable shop. Thanks.

That's a good point! As long as it my DD i will not upgrade to 285's. However, someday down the road I could find myself getting a more economical DD. If that was the case the 285's would be following shortly thereafter.

Does anyone know if Toytec ships north of the border or any other reputable place that does?

You could also do OME springs.

Thanks  once I pay it off, some serious ($$$) mods can begin.

Would that put me to high considering I only want to run 265's? I wonder considering that I don't off-road and use my truck as a DD that eibach's would suit me fine. I am not one to pull the trigger quickly. It will probably take me a while.

Lifts do NOT increase the size tire you can run.

    ^^this

To add, the tire must clear through the entire cycle of the suspension

For sure. But as I said earlier in the thread. I'm not entirely sure I want a full 3" (or even 2.5") not because it's not possible, but because I'm not sure optically I want that high of a lift when running 265's. I would love 285's and a 3" but couldn't handle the loss in mpg's. My commute is just too long. : (

That being said. If understand this correctly the eibach's and Bilstiens will give me some options on just raising up a little compared to the OME/Bilstien combo.

Or am I missing something entirely?
