I'm going to the Hot Bagels & Deli for breakfast. Might make for an easy meet spot for those that want to eat before we hit the trail. Plenty of parking space for a few rigs, but it's a small shop.

Here's a link to the intersection where the bagel shop, Chevron, and McDonald's are all at. I marked all 3 on the map.

The Chevron across the street is a great place to top off fuel, but their gas is expensive. I live close so I'll already be gassed up.

Like i said.. its a little out of the way, but its all dirt road up to Spring Valley and its a fun, cool little drive. we will drive through Cleator.. a SMALL community that has a bar. Its a great local spot for people who take day trips on ATVs, etc. then through old Cordes with some cool old buildings and stuff. From the Bus Barn, you can either jump on the highway or go back down some dirt roads to the 17. the dirt roads are fun and will be a somewhat shortcut.

If it's a day trip and I don't camp, then my chances of being able to go are about 90%. I think I'm going to take the stepson so he can get a break from all the drama going on at his school with his two friends that died last week. The service for the girl that was shot is next Wednesday and this would be a good distraction for him. Both the girl and the boy who shot her/himself were friends in his ROTC so he's been out of it since Friday.

I would go check it out, but time is of the essence that day. Once we're done with the run and a meal in CK, I'll need to head home. It's the season though! I hope my CO2 tanks haven't started expiring yet.

The Chevron is small and kinda difficult to get out of as a group. The bagel place is yummy goodness and plenty of parking fairly close for the trailer queens as well.

Getting out will be a good distraction for sure. And maybe coax him away from the tuner cars, and over to the dark side.

Does anyone know where the trail starts exactly? I'm only familiar with the front way off bumble bee

Correct. We will be starting the trail at the intersection of Castle Hot Springs Rd. and the Carefree Hwy. It's paved for the first few miles, then comes to a T intersection where we go left. Road turns to dirt immediately, and stays that way until we're through CK and back to the I-17 on the way home. We don't have to air down right away when we hit dirt, but maybe a couple miles in at one of the quad/bike staging areas where there's more room. The road is in good graded condition for quite a while before it starts to turn rough.

100% agreed! Always enjoy hanging out with you.

This is my stepson Andy, who has no real hobbies except ROTC and his trap/skeet club at school. He comes home and plays video games and watches TV and only has a couple friends. My son Kyle is the one into working on cars every day, but regardless he needs a little bit of a wake-up call, too.

Unfortunately due to having the access cab, it's only comfortable for one passenger to make a run like this. My son showed no interest anyways, so Andy is coming along.

and the road out is just the same. a dirt road that's kept up with, all the way to Spring Valley/69/17.

My bad, I meant to say make a LEFT at the first T intersection. Going right takes you down to the lake where all the cars go to picnic.
