Mine will be a DD, and it will be 1 of 3 vehicles in the driveway so being able to get it in the garage is vital. We could put my wife's van in, but she's first to leave/last to get home daily (I work from home) so there are some logistical issues.

DD here and mine stays on...the lowered rack helps to reduce the wind resistance at least..

don't have a garage, but when i do, i plan on not garaging the truck anyway...leave it for the lady's truck and my toys..if i need to do work on the truck, i'll take the tent off...comes off fairly quickly

My biggest fear of leaving the RTT on my DD all the time would be vandalism. That or some clown thinking it would be funny to set up the tent when I'm parked somewhere.

Not many people know what they are so the worry about someone setting it up (unless it was a friend playing a joke on you) is unlikely. You'll get a lot of strange looks with it on the truck, that's about it.

Just a bunch of old crap
I have to take mine off between trips. My truck is my DD and I commute 52 miles roundtrip a day so the mileage loss is felt in the pocketbook. Plus my rack is tall (same height as the cab) so my RTT stands completely above the height of the cab. The benefit is that I'm 6'1" and can just walk under my tent when it's folded out. I like it being up high like that. I just get one of the boys to help me take it off and I have a place I put it in the front of the garage out of the way. Keeps it from taking a beating by wind/weather/sunlight out here in AZ where the cover would rot quick in our brutal summers.

Problem solved for the theft aspect:

    http://www.cascadiatents.com/Security_Nuts.htm?m=84&s=635

    Or there is always custom.

As for vandalism I have little worry where I live or go 99.9% of the time.

I think about it but I don't worry about it constantly. My truck stays in the garage when I'm home, I never leave it out overnight. My truck is visible out my office window while at work. If I am out and about in town it is unattended for only short periods of time. WHen I'm out in the hills everyone sort of respects everyone else's stuff/space and I've never had an issue.

I guess living really contributes. Apt + park in a grocery store parking lot all day with no windows. :/

Plus there seems to be a lot of sticky fingered people around our parts. Just last year some kids decided it would be funny to slash tires and draw on peoples cars in my parents neighborhood. And yeah, I live in an apartment and can't see my truck from my place. Mine would definitely come off when not being used.

Mt Shasta Purchased along w/ Anti-Condensation mat.

    Can't wait to get it.
Sharing the shipping to Colorado Springs w/ BVCOTaco and SkiSailBike.
I'll pick up the pallet once it arrives.

Wanted to get the awning but Money person relayed I already spent Cash on the BoxRocket rack from Cody and Wet Okole Seat covers and heaters. Our trade for me to get this is 2 rooms of hardwood floors and upgrade the Pantry. Good deal.
Awning next year on group buy.
Thanks again for setting this up. It will be nice to get out and about in Colorado and Wyoming with this rig.

I will be hoisting mine on and off the rack. Same fears of theft/tampering as my truck sits in a college parking lot all day. Students get bored sometimes around here regardless of cops.

Next is the lift kit to got w/ Apex bumpers and skids.
    cheers

Last year when I bought my RTT I bought those security nuts, and it was a total waste of money. The socket is not a deep well socket, so you have to get shorter mounting bolts that go in the aluminum rails. The socket doesn't grab the nuts good enough to tighten the nuts enough. Basically it was a total waste of $70

mbmack1 got some threaded eye bolts, put a nut into the aluminum rails and then threaded the eye bolt into the nut. He then put very large locks through the eye bolt. Seems like a better way to secure the RTT to the bed rack and much cheaper. If you don't understand, I'll have him post some pics to better show what he did
