First off, this is NOT a member of TW that tried this. I simply want to get this out there so that others can see what someone has tried to do. Until I get a response back from this buyer, I will not post his email address, but once I confirm, I WILL post it.

Non-TW member emailed me on February 18th, wishing to buy a bearing. Here is his initial contact:

After getting him an invoice and waiting a couple of days, it was paid, and the new unit was received on the 1st of March. The day after I get this email:

I was kinda curious why in the world he would have unstaked the assembly, then restaked it, so I asked him to send me some pictures. These are the pictures, and yes, that is my assembly:

As you can see, it is a brand new unit, perfect condition, all clean. I ask him to return it to me, and I will get him a 4X4 sent out, and refund the difference. THIS is what I got back from him:

Now in these pictures, there is ABSOLUTELY no way that this is one of my assemblies, new. And my identifying mark is NOT present.

People, if you are going to try and pull something over on me, do a better job. I work hard to make these assemblies and get them done with quality work, and at a good price.

Some people want something for nothing. Sad society we live in nowadays.
You can always post this user and the power of the interwebs will find his location to have some locals pay a visit to help him change his bearings...

WOW! Did he REALLY think that was going to work?? What an idiot.

I wouldn't be surprised that next he will try to put in a claim to PayPal that he didn't receive what he paid for and try to get his money back.

Have you contacted him with the above photographs showing the one you received in return? Perhaps he is trying to pull one over on you, but in would reply showing him the package you received and to ensure he had not mixed up your item with another as this is clearly not your item (as you mentioned the identifying mark is not present)

I contacted a moderator on the forum and let him know what has transpired. Also emailed the purchaser and asked him to please explain.

I wasn't dumb. Hahaha. I told him after he returned the hub and I inspected it I would get with him on the other assembly, and the refund.

Yes I have contacted him, and am waiting on his reply. I am just a bit confused because since the first time he contacted me with the error in the order, something just didn't sit right. Why in the WORLD would you take the back nut and unstake it??? Why would you remove the center dust cap, then reinstall it? And maybe I am just a little biased here, but who in the WORLD owns an FJ Cruiser and doesn't know if it is 2wd or 4wd, but you plan on replacing your own wheel bearing? It just didn't sit right.

That alone is a red flag...and this person was going to perform work to it, but allegedly doesn't know if it were 2 or 4wd?

I am considering that as an option, but somehow I doubt it. However I am waiting on his reply.

It's a shame that strangers in this community would try to take advantage of someone with integrity.

Hope for the best outcome for you here.

From experience in retail... The buyer was probably hoping you wouldn't open the box and just refund the money. I've even had this tried on me as a dealer.

Way to be smart Bill and not return any thing until you looked the return over.
