It would appear to me that whoever posted this put a picture of a 6cyl to make ad look interesting and hope they didn't look at specs and see it was a 4 cyl. Because i've been looking through a lot of classifieds and i haven't seen any 4cyl for sale that look like this (like a 6 cyl pretty much). they all have plastic trim instead of chrome up front and they're very low to the ground. like this one: http://www.vehix.com/inventory/Vehi...7C0%26PostalCode%3D33428%26RadiusInMiles%3D75

If they are both 4cyl, why does one look so much better? can you evan get the prerunner sr5 packages with the 4 cylinder? I thought you couldn't

Regardless of it being a 4cyl or 6 the exterior does not appear to be Tan...

I'm not sure I fully understand why you believe it is not a 4 cyl. There are SR5 package 4 cyl PreRunner Tacoma trucks that look exactly like the one pictured.

Another example would be my truck. Although I opted for the steel wheels and no fog lights because of the ridiculous rip off they were from the factory. You can check out my photo gallery to see the similarities for your self.

EDIT: Also, one is a 5-lugger, and the other is a 6-lug PreRunner

ah you're right, I only saw black, which is the interior color apparently. Thanks for pointing that out. the pics must be from a truck other than the one actually being sold.

people use any ol photo...close enough Its a shame. News talked about 2 akulas off the east coast but they showed a typhoon. Could be worse, they coulda showed an izuzu and said a truck is a truck.

It's a 4cyc. You can tell because it doesn't have a back badge saying "V6," and by the mileage rating it has.

I was confused because I haven't seen any 4 cylinder tacomas for sale, or elsewhere, that look like the one in the first link. I've only seen 4 cyl tacomas that look like the 2nd link. So i was not aware that they offered 4 cylinder tacomas in that trim. If they do, then that makes the 4 cylinder a little more attractive to me. But I haven't found any like that for sale, so either they're rare or no one is selling any in my area.

Do the prerunner 4 cylinders have a rear locker like the prerunner 6 cyl???

    They are indeed fairly rare.

The 4 cyl. PreRunners do not come with the option of a rear locker as Toyota does not offer a Sport or Off-Road TRD package for this particular model. You can on the other hand install a selectable air locker which is made by ARB. This cost right around what you will pay for the Toyota E-Locker that is available on the TRD Off-Road packages. It is also stronger then the E-Locker, and the '8.4' rear end is stronger. So it would be an all around win-win situation. This will cost you in the neighborhood of 1000-1300 dollars.

I decided to install a Toyota OEM LSD in my rear end. I bought the LSD off a member that was selling it used with very low miles (he decided to go with a locker). The total cost of purchase and install was about 430 dollars. Granted I installed the LSD with a friend (rear end specialist) and threw him 50 bucks for a tip.

It seems to be more common in Texas. I have a 4 cylinder 5-speed PreRunner SR5 extended cab and only had to wait a week to get it when I bought it new in 2007.
