So I want everyone to know just how great of a guy RedlineTRD is. He just left my house after coming over and helping me put my mud tires on. Took us 40 mins. I would still be doing it if I didn't get his help.
So I will stop ranting about how awesome he is.
    Thanks a ton Kyle.

Hey hey y'all. ..been a minute! Too busy with life & work & working on Rubi....

Anywhoooo. I dunno if it's because I'm high AF right now, but the bf & I started talking about whether it was possible to do a 4wd conversion to my 2wd Taco. ..but utilize parts from a wrecked 4wd taco. Am I just insane for thinking about this?

No I haven't searched for build threads about this (I'm on my phone), I just wanted to ask the cool guys what's up hehe

Whoa?! Kelly! It has been a minute or maybe a few. Anyway, I have no idea about the conversion but it is good to hear from you.

I read a discussion the other day about this and it is more cost effective to buy a 4x4 and go from there.

She has had her 2x4 for quite a while now. Considering it may be tough to sell a 2x4 here in CO, it may be worth it to not just go 4x4, but to SAS. I don't know much about how much extra that would be, but it would be cool and I'm sure it is possible.

This. Unless you can get a great deal on the parts and you're good with tracing/splicing wires.

Installing the physical parts (tcase, diff, cvs, etc.) isn't really all that hard to do. From what I understand of it, the hooking up of the electrical stuff is what takes a decent amount of work.

SAS would probably cost at least twice the amount to do. And that's if you go with leaf springs. A linked system will probably be at least 3 times the cost to do it right. The other downside (resale wise) is that you will most likely never recoup the cost of a SAS.

Good point all around. But if you SAS it would you ever sell it? I know I wouldn't.

It's possible. A lot of homework is involved in a project like that. I also been thinking about converting my 2wd to 4wd. If you decide to do it, create a build page. It would be nice to see you work.

I'll start building a crawler within the next year. I've already spent about 6 months planning it and will continue to do so up until I start. I can't imagine ever selling it when I'm done due to the fact that no one would ever pay me cash for what I think my time was worth when I built it.

That and the fact that half the enjoyment of wheeling (to me) is the thrill of taking something you've built and conquering an obstacle or trail with it. It just wouldn't be the same for me if a truck was trail ready when I bought it or traded for it.

I don't go to Carson...:confused: actually I've never been there... I'm stationed at Buckley here in Denver.

and actually just got the keys to a house I'm renting in Aurora today too... Just north of Buckley.
