What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Actually the Hi-Lux came with solid axle and diesel for a long time after that.

 

Little, the weather stripping is on top of the bolt so it's allowing a little air to flow throughout and create a low hum, kinda sounds like your window is just barely cracked while driving, but I was driving against 40 mph wind so that has a lot to do with it too

 

removed my sway bar today and ground down my pinch weld. also my check engine light is on. P0135 bad o2 Sensor?

 

I was finally able to wash and wax my truck after getting new wheels and tires, along with a new suspension lift! Also took out the seats both front and back so i could easily vacuume and shampoo both the carpet and making it Super easy to do the same to the seats. Feels like a new truck again!

 

Not in the states....ever....

But yeah 83' wasn't the last year for solid axle, I just chose that year because it was what i had in the past, rock solid reliability, you could stick 32"'s on a stock 4x & check it out ......no rub issues...thing climbed like a fucking goat....Damn i miss it....

 

Took my new to me 2004 with a 2.7l and 64k on the odometer for a road trip. Just a "short" 800 miles trip. 14 hours non-stop (except for gas) on the highway and through traffic. Truck handled great and averaged 21.6mpg. Its nice to know I've got a truck that can handle a long haul and not destroy the bank account at the gas pump.

 

Made a camp table/bait cutting board for my swing away.

 

Hell yeah! I need to make something like this for my stove

 

It's not perfect and it warped a little when I bent the edges down but all in for about 20 bucks and is functional. I'm moving back to Chesapeake in a month or so and hope to meet up with some of you guys.

 

Nice. We are very active in the tidewater thread. I want to see this so I can get some ideas for mine when it's time to do it.

 

The new wheels look amazing man! I've been debating on getting those but with machined finish but I am now definitely going with them.

I changed the speedo gear from a 31 tooth gear to a 33 tooth to compensate for errors introduced from re-gearing. I went from from 4.10s to 4.88s.

Going to larger tires makes the speedo/odo read a little low. Re-gearing makes the sppedo/odo read way high.

 

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try the part that Ryan posted a picture of and see how that works being he was on the same tire/gear combo.

I would love a set of 4.56s but that seems way down the road at this point.

Typical, change one thing, end up having to change 6 other things...
