Some were asking about camper shell's ability to carry the weight. I saw something today that would make a lot of sense. All the guy did was build a couple of hoops that sit inside the bed and carry the load from the shell to the bed. It would be easy to do and doesn't take up too much room. Depending on your design, it might be something easily removed too. Another option might be a shoring post (adjustable kind).

I finally painted the bed rack that i got built over my bestop to hold my RTT two days ago, it looked so shitty with rust all over it but i remedied this issue

i finally pulled the trigger! the group buy helped. and so did a nudge from MT girl. i ordered a mt shasta and im looking at a pelfreybuilt bed rack to mount it. super stoked!

 

800$ man? I'd look around for a better deal but thats just the frugal me coming out...

I have a Pelfreybilt bed rack. Expensive...yes, but you get what you pay for. The first thing others have noticed on the rack is the quality of the welds. The workmanship is great. I have also purchased other products from them with no complaints at all. They can customize the rack to suit your needs. I had him make a mount for my RotoPax. Shop around but IMHO you cant go wrong with Pelfreybilt.

 

first: thanks! super stoked. im really glad im getting married to a woman who loves this stuff as much as i do.

second: well, i did shop around... and while i could get one cheaper, i really like what he has to offer. the height being the biggest selling point. i know i can get a $300 weld together kit.. but then i have to have someone cut it and weld it and... jesus i dont have time for that! i spend half of nearly every year deployed.

that.. and i love supporting local businesses and ive not heard a cross word about tyler or his products... and if i have a problem i can just make the drive, which i intend on doing when i get home to get eveything hooked up. i could have gotten sliders much cheaper also.. but sometimes the cost is worth the product and the people behind it. hell, i could have found a ton of ways around spending as much as i did on a RTT in the first place!

 

Well Cham, looks like I will be finally joining this thread as an owner. I just paid for my Mt. Shasta last week. Also getting a 79" awning. The RTT will be installed on the M-416 trailer that I just bought as well.

... I spray painted that with it still attached to the truck.. meh too lazy haha. My mom spotted that too...

 

Aired out my setup today & got it installed. I've only got work tomorrow & Tuesday so no big deal riding around for two days with it on.

 

I had a similar idea for a faring to keep wind/wear down on the from of the RTT. I was thinking diamond plate... What did you use Craig? That looks great.

 

He's giving me that material at the meet.. maybe haha

 

I used a sheet of Lexan Plastic mounted to some slotted steel L stock.
