I say no on this. You do not want to do this as you will likely end up not being able to bolt on, spend money to have fab work to use, and may still have exhaust leaks. Worth spending the extra $ for less hastle and potential headache. Been there done that...

Dont bother with headers at all, they will only give you a check engine light because you are deleting catalytic converters... and if your tacoma is a daily driver then you really shouldn't bother

    Roger that, fellas.

I actually have an exhaust leak on my stock manifolds, and in the event that I ever decide to change the gaskets, I know I'm bound to snap a couple bolts, so I was exploring "new" options.

These are short tubes. Cats stay there. I do agree but only b/c headers really wont gain you anything. Probably not going to get "10-15hp" as they claim.

    False.

Headers don't delete any cats on 1st gen tacomas

2nd gen tacomas totally different story.

Did not see that it was for a 1st gen lol. OP does not have his vehicle info listed down..... But would it not still throw a code because with the headers installed it would be scavenging more exhaust gasses, and the oxygen sensors would read an exhaust gas mixture that is out of its parameters for normal operation??? If its an OBD 1 vehicle you may be able be able to skim by without any check engine light but if its an OBD 2 vehicle you are almost guaranteed to get a check engine light... trust be ive been there already.... personal opinion, unless the truck is being raced headers are a waste of time & money.

No, it shouldn't throw any lights if the cats and o2 sensors are in tact.

My vehicles are in my sig now.

There wont be a change in the AFR with headers.

OP, most ppl do feel a small difference with intake/exhaust upgrades but the ECU eventually trims them out from what I remember reading. Not an expert here so you'll have to discuss with someone else, but if you are running a stock engine with no aftermarket tuner or boost (SC/TC) these upgrades are pretty much a waste of money...

Helped in the replacement of manifolds and gaskets on a 96 V6. It was ugly. Warm the engine before you start,,not so hot,,just warming up. Heat gloves and sleeves are your friend.

Newer used manifolds that we pulled out of a salvage yard went on along with copper sprayed OEM gaskets.

That seller has some pretty nasty negatives,,and some of it exhaust related. Mold on parts was one.

i beg to differ. the intake, headers and y pipe i had on my 2nd gen made a huge difference. to each his own....but my experience has been positive with regards to hp gain.
i recently removed the y pipes and noticed a significant loss in hp in the mid to high rpm range. And, if done right, you will not have any check engine codes thrown at all.
