    converting? :D

Im about a month or so away from my first tire purchase after stocks. Ive done the research which has lead me to 255/85/16 Cooper Discoverer ST, my option revolves around my 2 hr a day commute. My gut is telling me to stick to that tire yet my wandering eyes and some peoples opinion about them being terrible in sand has me looking back at 285/75/16s. The limited tire sizes suck! Ideally I would like to stick to the 265/70 width but just go up in height to a 33... What is 265? 10.5"? Can I get that width in a 33" tall tire? Open to all A/T tread designs

just realized that 33/10.5 goes with a 15" wheel.. Fack

    What haven’t I changed?
The tallest tire you're likely to get in a 265 width would be 265/75/16 which is only 32". It'll still look nice with a lift being an inch taller than stock, but isn't a true 33" like the 255/85/16.

I've been looking at the BFG KM2 and also the Cooper Discoverer since it now comes in 255/85/16. I just need to make up my mind on which one!

lol Im in the same boat. Im literally reading a tw thread asking how km2s are on a daily driver. I also read that the cooper st has a really thick sidewall and dont work well when dropped to say 20psi. I cannot make up my mind!

IMHO 255/85/16 look good on double cabs over 285s...now for access cabs the wider the better to give it that boss look. Jay I would go with 265/75/16 for mpg and beach reasons. I'm averaging 17mpgs now with the lift and 32 all terrains. Make sure u check the weight of the tire also...mine only weigh 40 pounds each and I know people with duratracs with my same size tire but weigh 50+ pounds and they average 15mpgs

The 265/75/16's give you the best of both worlds...decent gas mileage and they look good on a lifted truck.

    That's my opinion anyway.

Why would a thick sidewall be an issue when airing down? If it's stronger and they don't spread out at 20psi as much as you like, air them down further. If the stronger sidewall is keeping the tire from going down, it's strong enough to go to a lower psi. Plus stronger sidewalls are better for resisting punctures, every tire I've seen go on the trail was from a sidewall puncture.

My mpg stayed the same and even went up a little when I switched from 265/75R16 all terrains to 255/85R16 KM2s. And if looks is important, 255 KM2s look pretty good on the beach.

That said, I plan to try the Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx in a 255 next. I'd rather have more of an AT for daily driving and snow driving.
