raining on my god damn parade

how about this though, i am going to buy an incline meter to stick on the dash so i can get a feel for where the truck tips at.

anyone have a guess about where the flop point would be lol? isnt it about 40 degrees lol.

i realize there is no way to figure it out exactly, but say if its at 20 i know i can still go to about 30 and be fine

I went on a rescue mission last night. After doing the SUA and it lowering my ride height and such I thought I was pretty much done with snow wheeling because I'm too low. Well I basically proved that wrong last night. A 2nd gen 4running on some 31" MT's and locked in the rear got stuck (again... this is the 5th time I've gone to save him this winter:frusty:). Well I got to him, hooked up and asked him if he was ready and he said yeah so I got him and gave him a good tug, which didn't move him hardly at all and buried me... The fucker didn't even have the vehicle running!!! So I jerked him in park...:argue: So we spent about 15 minutes digging me out and then I jerked him again and broke his tow strap so we got mine out and I jerked him right out. The other 2 guys he called showed up at this point (A 1st gen Taco on 35x14.50 boggers locked front and rear and the Pathcrawler on his 34x10.50" TSL's locked in the rear.

So they left the 1st gen at the top of this steep long hill, the 4runner and I are already at the bottom and the Pathcrawler drops down to us. We decide to have me try to break trail back up it. I make it like 20 ft up, and have to back back down, and try again. After about 15 or so tries I finally make it to the top. Pathcrawler then tries it a good 15 times and can't get passed halfway... So I creep back down to smooth out and repack the trail and Pathcrawler tries it another 10 times or so and is getting pissed and starting to really abuse the shit out of his motor. So he let's me try it again to pack the trail now. I walk right up it 1st try no problems. Pathcrawler then tries a few more times and I convince the 1st gen to go break trail since his 14.50's are a lot wider than my 10's.

And I have to go so I will finish this later.

    Ok time to continue.

So the 1st gen goes down and makes the tracks a lot wider. Pathcrawler tries it and gets up on the 3rd try. So we send the 4 runner up next and he gets stuck and the 1st gen gives him a tug backwards so the 1st gen goes back up to try to smooth the ruts back out. Well he can't make it... He gets about halfway up after several attempts... After many tries and laying straps down for him to drive on we get him to the top, but in the end he broke the passenger mirror off and threw a CEL and had a god awful miss going on (he suspects a bad injector). Now we give the 4runner a couple more tries and he is about halfway up and stuck. Well we put all our straps together (easily over 200 feet of strap between the 4 of us) and the 3 vehicles and we just barely had enough strap to reach him, but the 1st gen and Pathcrawler are in the snow and my rear tires are in the snow. Using our CB's we all pretty much mash it and get one decent pull on the 4runner but it didn't move him and the other 2 got buried long with my rear end. We get free and give it a couple more tries but after that it basically became me trying to pull them out with just my front end and I smoked the shit out of my front tires trying. haha. So we gave up and left the 4runner down there. At the end of the night I was at 20 psi and they were all running 5psi or less and I still out walked them all. I was surprised because, the Pathcrawler and 1st gen both have taller tires and more lift and I still out performed them in the snow. So I guess my snow wheeling days aren't over :D

The Pathcrawler and I went up and dug the 4runner out (it was 20* colder now and the snow was hardpacked) with some shovel and throttle work we got it out without the straps. We took an extra 200 feet of straps and chain, but didn't need them. haha So it's free and we'll see if we ever go help him again... Caleb (Pathcrawler) was pretty pissed about last night... but luckily the snow is working on melting so maybe by the time he forgets about last night and tries again, there won't be any snow for him to get stuck in.

I'd be surprised if you make it to 70* dude... Konsta was SAC'd with a lot of travel so he can really pitch the cab over and keep all 4 tires on the ground. I have so much up travel I can crank it over pretty far, but I would be surprised if I can make it much further than 45* if that. As wide and low as Humvee's are, they will roll at 30*+ just for reference.

Well they do have IFS and IRS and they aren't built to crawl. 30* is a long ways over in one anyway. I don't think I could get one that far before chickening out!

We use this simulators and they put us at 30* and hold us there so we know what 30* feels like and fuck!

Not the best video but you get the idea. Skip to 1:30.

Anti-squat. SUA puts the power down to the ground instead of hopping around like SOA. When you nail it do you notice the back of the truck feels like it "lifts" up a little? That's anti-squat. It's actually pushing the axle down, providing better traction. Also makes it easier to do sky wheelies off berms.
