    Using a battery eliminator eliminates two sources of heat. The charging circuit in the camera and the battery itself, which gets warm while charging.

    Less heat makes the camera more reliable. Overheating can cause unexpected shut-down of the camera.

    A battery eliminator also bypasses the problems that some users have had with the GoPro charging logic causing the camera to freeze and require a reset.

    Interesting. Does a gopro work if it's plugged in but the battery is removed? Could eliminate those issues.

    I ask this as I look over at the gopro sitting next to me on my desk that I could easily test this theory out on...

    Well it sorta works. You can't control anything when it's plugged in. So if you start a recording or time lapse on battery, then plug it in and remove the battery it keeps on going. If you plug it in without a battery and turn it on it just shows the charging/USB indicator and you can't do anything.
