I have a 2012 Tacoma, and I'm wondering if anybody else out there has experienced the same problems that I'm currently frustrated by on my Tacoma? First, the seat cushion on the driver's side makes a popping noise when driving around corners or making sudden, sharp turns. This noise while intermittent, occurs often enough to indicate a problem. Next, something is making a noise around the steering wheel area (reminds me of the noise that a slinky makes). However, this only happens when I go to pull out, and after putting the truck in drive each time. I would sincerely appreciate any ideas of suggestions that anyone can offer me. I have took my truck back to the dealership several times, but with no luck.

i had two different problems similar to that, may not be exactly what you're talking about but here goes. first one ended up just being the front passenger seat half way engaged between it's clicks, just one karate chop to the seat (as if hitting the chest of the seat) solved that problem. the other, somehow the seat bolts were loose underneath, don't ask me how because it's a mystery to me too! a little tighten here and there and it never happened again.

The seat pop noise could be that a spring in the seat has come loose. That happened on my 2000 tacoma. It was super annoying. They fixed it right up no sweat. Or, you could have a loose seat mount bolt. Thats a really easy one to check.

I have a ton of rattling in my truck (2013) when it's cold out. And one really annoying creak in the center of the dash right by the windshield. That one NEEDS to get taken care of in warranty (16000 more miles to go!). I just need to find a section of road near the dealership where it always creaks...then do a ride-along with the tech.

I know a lot of people are scared of the dealership but I've had nothing but good luck with the dealerships fixing stuff like this on my trucks. As long as I can get the tech to hear it, they fix it. My FJ had all kinds of rattles that the techs were able to kill...never came back as long as I owned it.

Thanks 1 Bored Clerk! That makes sense about it possibly being a loose spring because I can feel it pop in the seat cushion. I'm going to do some road tests near the dealership, so I can figure out where the best places are to duplicate the other noises.

My 2013 DCSB also has a creak or pop sound in the seat. I've checked the bolts that hold the seat to the floor, and tightened them but still have it. I think it is somehow related to the seatback, maybe in the tilt mechanism towards the center console (right side of the drivers seat). The creak sound usually happens around turns when I put more pressure on the side bolsters. I can't feel it move, but the extra pressure seems to cause the sound. I haven't taken the seat totally out or notified the dealer yet, but has anyone had this?

I think I have that slinky noise...although it's more of a light "click" to me...when I first put my truck in D and roll forward a bit. It happens every time, kinda sounds like the click from a relay, so I never paid much attention to it. Figured it was just a "thing" that my truck does. Can't feel anything loose under the dash in that area.

I have the rattle up front and center in the dash. Oh man is it annoying!

My driver side door window control panel switches rattle to the radio, too. It gets annoying. I don't have the radio up loud, and I don't have the bass turned up.

I need to get both taken care of.

My truck does the "pop" when first starting to roll forward after shifting into drive, after starting the truck. I think this is some sort of brake check? It has done it since day one. I am not worried.

I guess I'll ask them about it when I go pick up my tags. On the topic of interior noises...my brake pedal makes a slight sucking sound when I initially step on it...every time.

The slinky noise is your ABS sensors check. Only happens ONCE after you started and drive. If you stop the truck then drive again (without turn it off) you will NOT hear that. It is normal.

For the switch panels on the doors, I took the passenger/drivers side off and put pieces of foam sponge around the entire thing and thicker where the clips are. Once I did that no more rattling and where I used to be able to move each one with my hand, now they're snug. If you don't want to bother the dealer with that (which they'll probably do the same thing) it might be worth trying that.

With all the noise issues and people's trucks just doing all things a new truck shouldn't do I think toyota is becoming lazy in their building process.

I thought I had got rid of all my rattles/noises but last night I heard some more. I've removed the glovebox and felt around for loose wires but I think i'm gonna pull my radio out and check for loose wiring harnesses or airbag modules or such, that should give me a big hole to inspect everything.

I haven't experienced the seat noise (yet), but recently I've noticed my dash is making a weird noise. It sounds like it's expanding or the seals aren't as tight anymore because of the heat or something. Usually only happens when i turn on the AC with the sun beating down. I use a sunshade all the time. Very weird.

I pulled my radio out and I gotta say this thing is wired tight back there. Not really much room for me to look around. I pulled my glovebox again, felt around, not much. I think what some of my noise is was actually my console. I noticed when I put pressure on my console, the area around my shifter squeaked. Interesting. So I pulled the whole console area out exposing the shift levers, then put it back down and smacked it on each corner, after I did that, it didn't make the sqeaking noises. I will definitely need a more permanent fix, like some foam or something around the edge.
