this reworks our current model of the observable universe and is direct evidence of the big bang.

the type of gravitational waves seen recorded by bicep could only have formed by a rapid cosmic "inflation," where space basically exploded, and gravity had to "catch up"


in this time, unfathomable amounts of energy were redirected from pure energetic states to become matter that we see today

this theory is actual, tangible evidence for our current model for the creation of the universe

 

according to your logic, if you're not a doctor, you're in a stupid job and are wasting your time

Not what I said at all... I asked what this solved for the future. It didn't solve cancer, it didn't feed any starving people, it didn't help world peace. I was just wondering why the article made it out to be such a huge discovery. To me, it's going to piss off a bunch of religious theorists is all.

 

Uh.. just so we're clear, a theory isn't made, A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method, and repeatedly confirmed through observation and experimentation.

So like, Gravity is 'Just a Theory'.

it's funny how many people don't understand what a scientific "theory" is

They are theoretical astrophysicists. They are not cancer researchers, part of the red-cross, or politicians. It is a huge discovery in their field. Who cares if religious people get pissed off? They are pissed off all the time anyways.

 

I guess I just don't care about that. Low on my priority list. High on other people's though.
