Not off the top of my head. Once you get off 93, there is a information building with green and red lights to tell you which campgrounds are full and which have openings. I will research a bit tomorrow at work and get back to you for reservation sites. I like the national forest campgrounds better. Either way it is beautiful.

If you're into hiking I'd say try camping in the Franconia Notch State Park. Lafayette Campground was a nice clean, quiet place when I stayed there a few years back. Franconia Notch has got some really awesome hiking trails for any level of ability, and there's a good bike trail that runs through the middle of it all too.

This is the place we liked,http://www.nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/blackwoodscampground.htm , our favorite site was right down the path from the cliffs overlooking the ocean. We'll hopefully go back this summer. Kids are just old enough to appreciate camping now, well at least the older 2 are.... they can help keep an eye on the 3rd.

x2 but man it's a long haul to get there. One of my favorite camping spots though. Otherwise, we've gone to Saco a couple times, even up as far as Jackman. Saco was fun and close. There are a lot of parks nearby to go hiking and not far from Portland. We camped just outside of Concord also, it was nice but the weather was crappy so we didn't get to do much.

I went to Attean lake in jackman once when I was a kid. We stayed at some cabin. It was rather primitive from what I remember. It was also an absolute blast

Sacco is great when going with a bunch of friends, if it's just you and your girl all the drunkards floating down the river might get annoying. Sure is fun though!

Ever been camping in the Allagash Wilderness Waterway? Talk about a haul! I went camping there after high school and I'd love to do it again, but you burn pretty much two whole days of vacation time just traveling there and back.

X2 for Acadia. The Allagash waterway is also awesome. I've done a few canoe/ kayak trips there. I love it up there, about as close as you can get to out in the middle of nowhere

That might be the lake we stayed on. We stayed in a very primitive cabin on a lake also. They had a generator that they'd run for a couple hours every day to give the cabins power. Otherwise, the cabins only had propane for lanterns and a fridge, no heat or electric. Each cabin had a cast iron stove for heat and the campground supplied the firewood. We had a great time hiking through the woods and driving the logging roads.
No, haven't been that far up yet but, if I can convince Kendra, I'll give it a shot. We usually go to upstate NY and camp up there.
    It's your Birfday?

Happy belated B-Day John (although I said it before your b-day as well - LOL). To all those looking for isolated cabin camping look into this place. http://www.bosebuck.com/ I have mentioned this place before but it is really cool. They are right on a lake, plenty of hiking, fishing exc but they have their own restaurant on site. Just make sure you have everything you need when you go there because the driveway is 13 miles long.
