How do those little hand held radios work? I was looking to get one for my truck. Should of went Ham first instead of CB.

 

Bought Motorola Talkabouts for that same reason. Also why I did the Mars/Cap mod. These better?

 

Motorola is always superior to Chinese radios, but these come already able to TX on commercial and race radio band, plus they are dual band (VHF and UHF) making them useful in both outdoor situations and indoor with lots of walls and enclosed areas. UHF penetrates walls much better than VHF, but the outdoor range is not as good. The Motorola radios also come with a set channel list, while these radios are programmable for up to 128 channels of your choice. Plus they come with an FM radio receiver for emergency broadcasts, and even a small LED flashlight at the top.

Plus, can't beat that price. Lol

We'll see how well they do. I should have them by tomorrow so I'll let you guys know. Always good to have backup comms in the truck for situations where you have to set out on foot or if the truck battery dies.

UV5R+ is the better version to have. It has a better firmware version and the internal frame construction is sturdier then the regular UV5R version.
