Gotta admit I dropped out of this thread early...just checked in every few pages.

In one place or another I've read some of the following...the election by the Crimean's is/was illegal (international law, Ukrainian law or some other agreement) or the election was rigged either with pre-completed ballots, intimidation, fraudulent counts (you pick it). Or that bisecting the country is illegal....whatever. It all sounds like a big cluster fuck.

So here's my question and kinda my thought. If 50% +1 of the people in the Crimea area really opted to leave the Ukraine and join Russia does it really matter? I mean does matter? I mean I get the rest of the Ukrainian citizens might want a say but, isn't that like me living in Mississippi telling a Californian they can't join Mexico (I can dream can't I). Am I missing a big part of the picture? I get it if no one in Crimea really doesn't want to be part of Russia but, it really doesn't seem that way to me at this point. Of course the other shitty part is the slew of world leaders letting their mouth overload their ass and the credibility hit that comes with it...

 

Haha, yep..agreed Jim, thats a role that GB has had over history, always wants to be the boss, I think the only little shithole countries that need fixing are the ones that we broke, but then that may well be a global task since we're going down the road that all the failed empires in history have taken... Yep, whether or not people see it but don't want to accept it, or the masses are just too caught up in their world of Twitter,Facefuck,instacrap & all the other mind numbing useless distractions, I mean who gives a fuck about the world around them as long as you can keep up with todays society gossip right ?..If we as a society were forced to deal with our failing reality maybe something positive & concrete would result. Fixing problems begins at home not on the other side of the globe, my wife & I know people from Ukraine, whats happening there is nothing new from what we're told, disputes between Mother Russia & Ukraines sovernty boil over every 8 to 10 years..

It's a Russia/Ukraine issue, let them dick it out as they have in the past..

The human species has proven time & again that despite some wonderous achievements, we are a primitive, war oriented destructive species at best..

Fact is we are circling the drain & there ARE no life boats, but its a slow sinking until it gets close to the drain then it speeds up,like i said, we're now circling it..

Dude im no military or political expert so Im not sure what the correct strategy to take would be.

All I am pointing out is that if we do nothing but slap them with sanctions then we have shown the other super powers(China, Russia) that we can be manipulated and pushed around.

If you look at history, Hitler was slapped on the wrist numerous times and while western countries spent all of their time and resources coming up with a diplomatic solutions to the crisis, Germany was massing their armies and manuvering to strike...

Obama has decimated our military to nothing so there is nothing to amass on our side and our Navy is down to the fewest ships since the Civil War. Meanwhile, we are now giving weapons to the Iraqis -?!?!?!?!?! WTF!!!!!- which is case in point to my argument about our political leaders being dumbasses and not learning from the mistakes of history (i.e.-Afghanistan and the Taliban, whom we outfitted against the Russians way back when).

Human slaughter & tyranny have been a way of life in most of Africa, you don't hardly hear two shits about it.. Why ? Because no one cares (in general) It's one big continental civil war.. It has natural resources to be pilfered once the population drops a little more, or a reason is created for invasion (whether its true or not doesn't matter) Like I mentioned I have friends that are from cremora or whatever that place is called (see, i don't even remember the name,matters not) & they say theres alot of people there that welcome the "re taking" of Russia's involvement...theres more going on there than we're seeing or being told

This is getting pretty heated...

But I will say that I consider myself very fortunate to be born in a first world country and have the freedom to discuss this topic with others who also have that freedom. We started off as a small nation and were oppressed by a countty who shared our heratige.

Ukraine has asked the help of the world and so far no one has stood up to help.. Sad times

 

Heated ?? guess i dont feel it..its been pretty civil really, but i digress, we really need to understand on who's doing the asking for involvement, the voice we hear shouldn't be assumed to speak for the masses..Sometimes you just have to stand on the sidelines & watch the train wreck, & I DO agree its sad, but doesn't constitute involvement

 

The elections were held with russian "security" monitoring the whole thing. Alot of interviews with Crimean citizens point to a problem. The older citizens that lived with russian rule, want russian rule back. The younger generation wants to be part of the "western" world and thinking. Reports have stated the younger crowd did not show up to vote because of fear and intimidation from pro-russian demonstrators. So, there really was not a fair voting process that occured.

Im now over it ... the whole world wants us to do something & when we do all the lil do nothings want to bitch about how we fucked it up..YOU would be the leader of the band in here saying the USA fucked that up...Heres a news flash let Canada go take care of the New USSR ... Lets see how that works out.. M.F.ing England voted not to back us if we went into Syria .. So much for old pals.. Time for England & her kids & the E.U. to use the 5 cruse missiles we gave them..We are just going to sit on the side lines & tell you what you did wrong after the smoke clears.
