They called me earlier (around 5:30) and told me that the air injection valve 2 is faulty and they are replacing it. Part wont be here till teusday so i have a rental..
They gave me a 2014 carolla S that is kinda nice.. LED headlights and perty sporty inside and out.

I really hope they can fix it and it never happens again..

OP thanks for the update, glad to hear you were able to get yours replaced. Does your pump run on every cold startup? I used think mine did until I had the CEL for the pump and now it doesn't seem like it runs as much to me. This morning truck sat overnight and was 37* out when I started the truck the pump did not cycle, drove to work it sat 8hrs its now 34* out start truck and pump cycles. Does this seem right?

Im not sure... I still dont have my truck back.. But My truck used to run the pump almost every time I started it, even if it was warmed up.. but what you discribe doesnt seem right.. It should cycle the pump when the truck is cold.
I may get it back tomorrow if the new part fixes the problem..

All depends on the programming in the ecu.
I sure they have played with it the past few years..

It might not run on every start up, when my truck sits the longest (overnight) my pump does not cycle in the morning. Today 39*out start truck pump doesn't cycle, Im not getting a CEL anymore so i guess everything is good to go.

Got my truck back and I forgot to listen to the pump when I left.. I will try to listen for it tomorrow.
But they replaced the secondary valve bc it would get stuck open.. So lets hope that the other valve doesnt have the same issue.. lol
    only time will tell...

Oh and I loved my rental! the new carolla S is sweet and drives soo much nicer than my truck.. Also the brakes on my truck suck compared to the car... Im going to be getting SS lines and try to get the braking to be more responsive.

of course it does..it's stock, smaller, and lighter.

Fwiw- I had a Corolla (S) and it was a great car, economy wise...IIRC, it was rated 37 hwy(?)
But my family and I outgrew it rather quickly.

Thanks, let me know if it runs at every startup. Mine was also the secondary valve, dealer wouldn't replace mine though as temps are up here now and it's not sticking at the moment.

Hi guys, mine is doing it. 12 tacoma Sport wth 23K miles. Went into limp mode the other day, CEL/Trac OFF. Towed to dealer, codes for air induction system valve 1 and 2 stuck. They cleared it, now its doing it again two days later. They've got a problem seems like. I live 60 miles from the dealer they're going to get nasty call Monday. Not happy.

Is this a part of the emissions system?

I'll keep an 'eye' on my Prerunner for this. I hear the pump every time I start it, which is supposed to run until the engine comes up to temp a bit, adding o2 to better handle colder exhaust gasses.
But every time you put a connection to the exhaust, there is constant push back of raw exhaust against that valve, which has to take the heat.
If it leaks just a bit, moisture will find it'd way back past the valve to the stopped pump and cause problems. Maybe the Tundra fix will lead the way?
The pump itself retails for >1200 I think.
Time to get a scan gauge, I guess.

Wow! 83K miles and it just now is acting up. the only thing that you can do is have the dealer look at it and fix it.

Same thing happening to my 2012 with 51K miles. It is summer here in Georgia and it hasn't rained in over a week. Garage kept, no reason water could have gotten in except for condensation. Pulled the valves and there is water in the system. The rubber pieces on the underside of the valves are falling apart. Definitely a design flaw.
Toyota needs to recall these for the Tacoma. They did it for the Tundra, they need to do it for the Tacoma too. This is my second Tacoma, and my fourth new Toyota in the past 10 years. If I have to replace these every couple of years, I'll have to start looking at F150's. Hope the same part is not on my 2014 Avalon.

I hope this will help others. I removed my valves and cleaned them with carb cleaner and reinstalled. I have driven it over 500 miles since without the warning light and without the stalling. You may want to try this before spending over a thousand bucks at the dealer!!!!!

That might work if they valves don't look like the picture above. When mine failed my rear most valve looked exactly like the one in the picture posted above. The valves can be had for $400-$500 with some searching and are very simple to repair, just aggravating we are having this issue on such low milage trucks.
