He does that. He was just stalking me last week. You'll get used to it.

Oh, and Brent, I still have to figure out how best to mount the gas cans I bought 6 months ago. Always something...

04s may be different but on my 98 you take that panel between the window and seat out (plastic clips) and theres 3 bolts under it that hold that padding on

Fairly simple. I have a Crutchfield cheat sheet somewhere in my files. You need a socket to take off the top plastic trim piece that runs the width of the cab. After that, it is popping push pins.

Hmm.... I wonder if you could make something that is upside-down U-shaped to fit over the tailgate or bedsides so you could have on one both sides. With some rubber material on the inside to you don't scratch your paint of course...

The bolts are 12mm, just to make things a little bit easier. 3 of them total.

If it isn't a 10, 12, or 14 on the truck then somebody didn't install the right bolt haha

I have an idea that puts them in the bed but still thinking it through Not sure I want them in the bed but easier to keep from damage and out of sight.

If you remember how my spare is mounted, was thinking of a backing plate to go between the bed and the spare then bolt or weld some trays onto the backing plate. Makes it really easy to remove if I need to haul something. But I'm also still thinking of placing them in the bed corners on the back side of the wheel wells. Perfect spot for them but going to take a little more creativity, especially if I want to still be able to mount my tonneau cover.

Did I mention, I still need to fashion some metal mounting brackets for my tonneau cover so I can use it off-roading? ARE supplies it with plastic brackets which I've already busted a few. Should be easy to fashion something out of some aluminum stock. Always something...

I've made a serious commitment to keep the truck going another decade. Time to go through it all, to make sure I get a good head start on making it last that long. Figure the wheel bearings are coming up soon.

That be what I was thinking!

I'll have to start shopping for some holders or just fashion up a tray and strap them in.

Just buy a piece of plate and two can holders. Then just drill and bolt where needed and you're done.
