The lower in question is eparmorys lower. It's an "80" so they say. But from the looks of it, it starts out as a past 80 and filled in back to an 80%

It's on steel core because some tard made a pistol that shoots 5.45 so now there's a pistol that shoots armor piercing rounds and it's going to be banned from importation. Once again I sound like Nostradamus warning people from building 5.45 rifles for the sole purpose of taking advantage of cheap ammo because it wouldn't be around that much longer. 5.45 is about to become more expensive than 5.56.

Idiots, so if I build a bolt pistol in 7.62x54r (like the remington sillouhette guns) is t AP and therefore the ammo will be banned?

You personally building isn't the same as someone mass importing or manufacturing for re-sale. BTW, that gun would suck. lol

Keyword here is surplus 5.45. You can still buy the mass produced new stuff that Wolf, Silver Bear, Golden Tiger, etc sell here for ~25c a round. Not as good as the 20c that surp was going for, but the round isn't dead.

last I checked USAC had them for $0.15 / round. Now its $0.23 / round (BulkAmmo).

That's a 53% increase in value in one day due to government intervention. A similar occurrence in popular traded commodities would create an uproar lol.

Understandable, but for people that bought a 5.45 upper or a ak74 so they could shoot cheap centerfire ammo that has very close ballistics to 5.56, they still have the ability to buy new ammo for less than 5.56.

Building an upper with the sole purpose of saving a few pennies per round isn't a wise move. Takes a LOT of pennies to equal a $1,000 upper. I said it for a while now that when that surplus gravy train ends pretty soon you'd be left with weirdo uppers nobody else wants and paying about the same price and eventually more (based on volume) to shoot it. There's better places to save money IMO.

Yeah, I remember you saying that earlier and I decided to pull out the old TI83 and graph some equations haha.

    With a $700 upper, you're breaking even at around 5k rounds (15c for supr 5.45, 30c for steel 556.)

Now that 5.45 almost doubled in price, you're looking at breaking even at around 15k rounds.
