Who also own a 4 runner?

and I was curious if we also have any 4 runner owners on here?

I am thinking of selling my LIFTED Silverado that i just bought after selling the tacoma and going to a 4 runner.

What MPG do you guys get? Same as the Taco??

Is the V8 overkill? Or does it get better MPG because it doens't work as hard?

is the third row seat usable with todlers or do they have to be older to now have the car seats installed?

Any issues on these that i shoudl look out for?
i assume it will be very similar to my taco!!

is the body style change also in 05+??

I have two friends with newer 4-runners and they like them very much.
They both went with V6 models, because they said the V8 only came with all wheel drive. The V6 has part time. I don't know if this is true or not, but I would bet the V8 is overkill.

i was gonna get into a 4runner before the tacoma. test drive one, It wasn't the car for me.
but then again...23, not married, no kids....and so on.

16 city, 20 hwy V6
14 city, 17 hwy V8

 

My wife has an '03 4Runner that we bought new. It's the Sport 4WD with the V8 and she absolutely LOVES it! Almost 100,000 miles now and it has never let us down even one time. The V8 consistently gets 18-22 mpg and appears ready to handle at least another 100K. We don't have the 3rd row seat (we just don't need it) but I can see where it would come in useful with two adults and a couple of little ones.

In my opinion the 4Runner is a fantastic vehicle and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to get another one. Good luck with the decision and congrats on the new baby!

 

my dad has one V6 and is getting about 23-25 mpg

 

My wife drives an 05 4Runner, V6 SR5 4x4 - gets about 20 mpg in mixed driving that's probably 70% highway, has about 90k on it with zero issues so far.

 

Bought my wife an 2008 4-Runner sport and we love it. I also use to own a 97 4-Runner that I traded in for my 09 Tacoma. The 4-Runners are great cars and would highly recomend it to anyone.

 

I drove a '07 2WD Sport Edition V6 for about 10 months and 25K miles, and now my wife has been driving it for about 15K. I loved it and she has no complaints. It rides really good , better than my Taco. No issues to date. She never resets the MPG, and the other day it said 22MPG, which reflected mixed driving for probably the 15K miles she has been driving it. No 3rd row seat in ours, but I have sat in one, or should I say tried to sit in one and no good for adults and a little scary to me for kids. My 2 cents.

 

I have a 2007 4Runner SR5/Sport. 4WD. bought it with 29k miles. I have almost 41k on it. Nothing but great news from me. Bought it as a certified used vehicle from Capital Toyota in Chattanooga Tennessee. As for some of the questions asked. I think 04-05 or maybe 03-05 not sure when they did the new body style. but I'll just say in 2006 they changed the low beam headlights to projector headlights. 06+ no reflectors in the rear bumper. 06+ Different grill well eh well they pretty much changed the front end but still very much similar to the models before 2006. Im not sure about the 3rd row seat. I do not have the 3rd row. And for the v8 vs v8 question. In my V6 I get anywhere from 16-21 mpg. depending how I drive. sometimes I have a lead foot sometimes I drive like a grandpa. The v8 is AWD (all wheel drive) thats no making it 2wd. The v6's can come in 2wd and 4wd. by 4wd its just like the 4wd tacomas able to switch it in and out.

Well I bought the silverado not knowing that I had a second child on the way...
I don't think it will be as friendly yo get into and out of for my prego wife and for my to put a toddler and a infant into. (because of the 6" lift)

i thought a 4 runner might get me better MPG and still allow me to tow etc.
I was hoping it would be a little more refined than the Tacoma
Loved the tacoma but woudl have liked

Climate Control
Memory seats
rear air
etc.

My wife got the '09 4runner SR5 V6. It's a great ride,smooth, totally redesigned suspention, you will love it if you have a small infant while he or she sleep in the back,because it can handle the bump nicely. SR5 is alittle small for me. We used to Montero Sport and those Mitsubish!t got a roomy inside,but they don't built good vehicle.

2009 Toyota didn't built alot of 4runner(s) because the slowdown in economy. You can test drive one,you'll love it. Better yet wait till the 2010 come out a round September or November.

 

The wife used to drive a 4 Runner and loved it.. Now she drives an FJ and loves it even more.. but either way they are both great for haulin the kids around it..

 

If you don't plan on towing or going off road in your suv, you may consider the Highlander. It gets better fuel economy than the 4-runner, but it's a unibody car like vehicle as opposed to the 4-runner's body on frame truck set up. If gas mileage is an issue, you might test drive one of those.

If I had it to do over again, I would've bought the 4Runner instead of the Tacoma. I test drove two for a couple nights even, a V6 and a V8, and I would've gone with the V6. Wish I had, actually.

Does anyone know if there is more room in the back seat (for a car seat) in the 4runner over the DC Tacoma??

The onboard computer had Fuel Range Ave MPG and Avg Speed. ( something i wish the taco had.)

 

I have a 2008 urban runner package 4runner. I love the vehicle and on the first long trip i took it avgeraged 20.1 MPG actual mileage.Vehicle only had like 300 miles on it!!! This was impressive to me as my 2006 tacoma only average like 16.5-17 MPG on the same trip(6 speed). The build quality is nice on the 4 runner and i have no opinion of the third row seat as i do not have that option. I have sold the tacoma due to a very irritating manual transmission that seemed to shift as slow as pouring honey out of a jar, and i plan to get a new tacoma AUTO in the spring. I am an aware and particular person and yet i would buy a v6 4 runner again if i had it to do over.

 

you should go to the dealership with a car seat and compare them.....
