Got "too lean" codes this weekend.

What you want to do is find a pattern. Some issues are random while others are not.

Monitoring the fuel trims will also help. For example, an existing problem such as a vacuum leak that is present at all times will present with both long term and short term fuel trims gradually climbing. With P0171, you should see positive numbers in the fuel trims. The ECU senses increased air, and tries to compensate by adding more fuel until it can no longer compensate and maintain a 14.7:1 AFR. Have a look at this for possible problem areas.

Cleared "too lean" code off trail and Drove to DC and back to Raleigh without code reappearing. Idk what's up?!?

Walking back to the truck in an empty parking lot it looked like it was leaning really bad. I measured again and with a full tank of gas it's leaning slightly more than before. I'd like to keep the 1/4" rake seen on the passenger side.

That's 2 votes for electrical tape. First vote was for the liquid tape and then finish with electrician tape. I'm kinda looking for a cleaner finish.

 

The whole shell is cracked up bad. I'm gonna reshrink it and put a piece of this braided expandable PET over it (1/2", 1/4"-3/4") for protection and color.
