Alright I can't figure out what up with my battery.
Truck starts and drive fine .
The battery light flickers while drive but if I romp on it it goes out.
Sitting in park at idle it comes on solid but the truck doesn't die.

I thought it was the belt tensioner because of the fact that it goes away when I get on it.
Things I've replaced .
New belt and tensioner
Cleaned battery terminals.
Checked every ground wire I could find .


Any ideas? I was going to put a new alt in but I don't really want to spend the money if it's not bad.
Is there a way to test the alt to see if it's good ?

 

How old is the battery?

 

Were there any midgets involved?

 

I put a new one in around nov 2013 so 5months or so .

 

Its the alternator. I think AutoZone can test them for you.

 

Can you test the alt output with a multimeter? With all the other stuff that sounds like a good culprit. Did you clean the ground, or just check that they were tight? With all fury and mud it's seen might be a good idea to hit the grounds with a wire brush and get them clean

Lol...Looks like the Oz got himself banned this morning.

 

Ya I cleaned them with a wire brush. My multimeter got lost in the move. I'll have to go through the boxes again and try to find it.

 

So if you run the truck wide open all the time, it runs fine? I'm failing to see the problem...

 

My vote is the alt. It sounds like the regulator

Yup just down to autozone they hooked up there gizmo and it's the voltage regulator which is internal in the the alt. guess I'm holding off on my firearm purchase again . Dam tacoma always screwing up my fun plans.

 

Alt = $57 off a '12 with only 15K. 1 week away

 

Thanks but I need it fixed today. I have to work the next 3 days and I don't want to break down. Part should be here by 1:30pm $120 with $40 back for the core.
