Love the light.. Just ordered one on Amazon.... Topic Change.. Water Storage. The way a buddy and I are breaking down our prepping is into three phases....

    1. Prepped for long haul at home. 2. Mobile in a vehicle. and 3. What you can carry.

Item number 1 and 2 are the most realistic with the craziness of our weather these last few years.

I'm looking for ways to store water and transport water for my family. I have the Reservoir Emergency Water Storage system for use in the bathtubs, but I'm looking for something that is more transportable. (BTW, if you don't have 1 or 2 of these, it should be added to your supplies.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DOMOCCI/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

In an emergency situation, the average person will need 3 Gallons of water per day for consumption, cooking, and hygiene. If you have a family of 4 that adds up quickly. A two week supply of water is 168 gallons, which equates to 672 pounds of water, which is difficult to move around if you have it in large containers.

Right now, I keep 3-4 days of water on hand in addition to the Reservoir water systems. I also have two of the Katadyn Hiker Pro Pumps in our bug out bags. My issue is that I don't have a way to transport water effectively, so I'm looking to the group for some creative ideas before I go off and design my own.

I have that same gun and if you get a small saber sleeve for it, you can fit it under the rear seat. I didn't care for the trigger on it, so I dropped in a new trigger from Kidd Innovative designs and now its a tack driver.

How are you looking to transport it? Truck, ATV, on foot, etc.? I am sure there is a tank that you can put in the taco then just gravity feed it into what ever you are putting it into from there.
ATV's have attachments for tanks as well.

My wife was an early adopter of the Biolite stove and I've commented about it elsewhere so I'll copy/paste my review.

Bringing that back up has reminded me about the flamestower device, I reckon it's time for me to check back in on them.

thats pretty disrespectful of anyone to do to any book.

or burning them. you know, its one thing not to believe, or not to agree.. and then to just be jerks. the premise of this thread was doomsday prepping your vehicles and families? the intolerance and ignorance that leads you people to burning and shooting books is the same kind thats going to lead you to have to defend and protect yourself and your families when shit hits the fan.

i hope youre not teaching your children to be this way. my bug out preparations are only partially complete ;)

to be clear, i dont subscribe to religion in general. i tried not to focus on any one person/comment.. the burning/ass wiping comments were just as distasteful in my opinion. everyone wants respect but isnt always prepared to give it.

after ten years of a war im just a little ...weary.. of the hate and disrespect. that wasnt a personal jab at you, beavis. im sure youre otherwise very charming ;)

My well pump blew up ($4K, fml) and we quickly figured out exactly how much water we need a day. 3 gallons a day for two people is luxurious. One gallon per person is really more realistic. I keep 30 gallons or so stored at the house (live 150 yards from the creek), but in the rigs one 7 gallon container is all we need for a few days. If I can't find water in Oregon in three days I deserve to be worm food. When I lived in the Mojave desert I had all the waterholes marked on the map. I would do the same in Texas for sure. On my first deployment I went 53 days without a shower or running water. The importance of babywipes cannot be emphasized enough.

That's a good idea too, but it gets balls cold here and I don't have room inside for a container that big, although I could put it in the attic for gravity feed....

Zactly. It takes a lot of energy to turn a -20F block of ice into water.

I have an access cab as well and the 10/22 takedown. I'm,looking to build a small platform behind the passenger seat to keep things in place but where I still have access to the storage bins. I think the vertical idea is right on target.
