Tube/Plate bumper, save the cash you get from insurance!! Hopefully insurance speeds the heck up.

My Monday sucked, I got suspended from work for calling out 3 times in a 90 day period. Twice because I had strep throat, and once more(this past Saturday) for taking my mom to the hospital and staying with her for the weekend. I had a meeting with my store operator today and got everything sorted out. Mistake on their part, I'm being compensated for yesterday and today. Go back again tomorrow!

Nothing yet; it's "driveable" although it pains me to drive it around like this. I have both inner fenders bungeed to the bumper support to keep them off the tires.

The insurance company still hasn't gotten a statement from the driver of the vehicle, and I felt like I was talking to a wall when I was trying to explain what happened.

Body shop has a week lead team getting my truck in and 3-4 days once its in; so 11 days + whatever time the claim takes to get approved. I figured it would go faster since the body shop deals directly with the insurance company, but insurance sure is dragging their feet thus far.

Anyways, here's what happened to the Tundra that hit me:

I'd never allow my girlfriend to drive my truck after that. Sucks OP!! What if you forked out for the body work and asked insurance to reimburse you? I don't have a clue about how insurance works.

Literally made me laugh out loud with that emoticon.

A lot of people have said to go aftermarket now. I'm not crazy about the look but haven't looked into it too much. What's everyone's favorite? Would have to be something low profile; garage space is a premium at our house!

i'm sure he must be pissed, but still you dont have to be driving your truck like that either there insurance or yours should provide you a rental. When i got hit from the rear my insurance right away sent agent to look at the damage truck and that same agent after took me to get a rental. Rental car was later payed by the other party insurances.

I had to wait for 2 weeks for the bumper repair. Well best of luck hope everything gets taken care of.

Thanks for the video; good laugh, but my head hurts now.

I should get the security tape from the guards

EDIT: Just got word that truck goes into body shop Monday! Only good thing to come out of this is that they are painting the front valance black like I had it plasti-dipped before! :)

What insurance BS are they putting you thru!?

My wife's was hit Monday and we dropped it off Wed, got the rental, and got her car back Sat. Not only did the other drivers ins cover our repairs and rental but also took care of the opposite side 1/4 panel and bumper free so it would match their work.

I am sorry but WTF line of BS are they using to delay you this long?
    Bodyshop lead times, processing paperwork???

Not reasonable delays in my opinion.

    Good Luck Dude!!!

    My new '14 SR5 6 stick, D.Cab S.Bed 4X4 V6 may just be in tomorrow.

They originally assigned the claim to an adjustor who was not working the day of the accident. However, they picked up the pace when I kept calling.

By the time I had the claim approved it was just easier to wait until Monday to drop it off at the body shop.

Speaking of the body shop, I have been nothing but impressed with them so far. If their work is half as good as their lip service I will be very happy.

I should get the truck back tomorrow so I can send back this stupid, oil-leaking KIA Optima. What car leaks oil at 17k miles? Oh, right. A KIA.

When you get a chance to pick it up make sure to check all the gaps on the front end make sure its dry.

Some shops will try to pass shoddy paint work by making sure its wet when they send it home to hide it.

Most importantly enjoy having your baby back :)

Got it back last Friday and oh boy was that an event. Apparently they couldn't get Toyota to send them the correct headlight, which delayed it a day because they didn't realize they didn't match until getting everything put back together.

Finally, they got "everything" done and buttoned up, but as the guy was talking to me me he goes..."oh man, I just read your notes.".

In the notes I turned in with the truck, I said to two-tone the bumper like I had it with the black below the valance, and to paint the grill logo on the grill the same color. I had taken the logo off the grill and removed the plastidip from it so all they had to do was scuff it up and spray it real quick. I placed the logo in the passenger seat and put that in the notes as well. All of this was included in the estimate, mind you.

Obviously the bumper did not get two-toned. He said I still had to come get the truck, because the insured's insurance company wanted me out of the rental car after 5 days, which is understandable. However, the body shop didn't have a loaner car at the time because they were swamped and I would have to come back next week.

On top of all that, he called me back later and told me that since he hadn't read my notes, the body shop guys thought the logo was spare parts, and THREW IT AWAY. :annoyed: They found a logo before I came and picked it up, though. Fair enough.

Meanwhile, the rental car company was another event in itself. About 15 minutes after I turned it in, I realized I left a pair of athletic pants in the trunk. I called the lady who dropped me off in the car I had rented, and asked if I could come get the pants. She said to come on down. I get there 15 minutes later and the car is nowhere to be found. Apparently it magically left the lot with another driver...sigh.

Eventually, they made it up to me and located the pants (sounds funny to say), and brought them out to my house.

Incompetence is EVERYWHERE and I don't have the patience for it!!!!

The truck goes back tomorrow to get the two-tone on the bumper. I can't wait to see what could go wrong this time! :frusty:
