Ultimate Camping Thread

There is some incredible backpacking here in az, my favorite is in canyons both technical and non. During the summer however you're not going to want to be outside anywhere in the valley for very long. An hour drive (maybe 2) will get you to places with much cooler weather.

I hate the summer in Phoenix lol

 

yeah ive been doing some investigating on arizona utah nevada area and it looks like i could have alot of fun there. i will just have to plan a trip during the winter. which would be a great break.

 

That ought to be awesome! I Love the Grand Canyon. Seeing it in pics/vids doesn't come close to doing it justice.

 

The first time I went to the GC, we hiked about 1/2 way down. It's really deceptive how steep going back up is.

What an awesome experience tho.

If you want to look into flying into SFO, there are buses that go out to Yosemite on a regular basis. You can also ride the bus in the valley for free while you are there.

 

That's awesome, I just spent 4 days kayaking and exploited a sweet slot canyon in lake powell.

I want to go on another rafting trip! But I don't know if if rather do that or go on more climbing trips or canyoneering, to much to do not enough free time or cash haha

 

It's funny, I've lived in az all my life and never been to the grand canyon

 

Yeah I've hiked down in it too, it is quite the hike back up out of it. It was awesome for sure.

I've been to Yosemite a couple of times.. Yosemite is one of my favorite places, to anybody who hasn't been and likes and appreciates the outdoors, you gotta go it's awesome.

Your just talking about a bus and not like a group tour thing aren't you (can't do group tours)? How much is a ticket for those who might wana know, if you know?

Man that is funny but sad too lol! You don't know what you're missing, you gotta go it's awesome! I've been all over the world and it's one of if not my favorite places. do it.

 

I have no idea what the cost is but there is a bus that leaves from SF. You schedule departure/return date. There are also a bunch of one or two day tours if that floats your boat.

 

I meant I can't do group tours, I like gettin away from people haha. But maybe somebody else might like that. Yosemite is sweet.

The tours suck. Although sometimes if you don't have a lot of time, you can hit all the good stuff quickly.

My dog doesn't ride with me much (he's 14 and a cranky old man) but if he did I would look into one. Hell if it doesn't work well or only lasts a year or something, it's only $50. The thing that I like is that it's waterproof but it's soft and not slippery. And it's washable! Looks like they have door card protectors made of the same material too.
