Damn, that was shitty but turned out pretty good for you. Replacing the whole damn thing I'm sure is easier, but of course more $$$.

kinda figured James would have siezed cams.... now a days damn near every tacoma/4runner/tundra/seqouia made before 07 has siezed eccentrics.
    here is my opinion.
Most technicians that have replaced these bushings know how big of a pita they are. they are extremely difficult to get out, i did mine, toom me 6 hours with a torch, air hammer, press, cutoff wheel, file..... u get the point. each bushing is like 80 retail from toyota. (why u would trust an eftermarmet bushing on a lifted truck in a stock lca is beyond me). so 360 bux later and ALOT of labor you have new controls arms in.
what i recommend to my customers:
pay me much much less labor and buy new arms with new bushings already pressed in. it actually comes out cheaper this way. i like to give my customers the option, they obviously like cheaper.

either direction u go, you have to cut out the siezed eccetrics. which is also a pita. cut off wheel, grinder and airhammer are a must. im pretty good at them, done enough... but because u cut them out you need to replace the eccentrics... they add up as well.

Now..... say i do it on the side.... much cheaper :D
ive done Erics and Bobs and several others. when the new parts go in, they are drenched in anti sieze, something toyota doesnt use obviously

Thanks Jace, good info, neither option is that appealing. Going TC arms like Bob sounds like the best bet, and totally justifiable :D

Thanks for those videos, There is one problem. I'm going to possibly be buying a used set and they won't be on the truck to aid in the dis-assembly of them. I would like to take the used set apart so I can check the top-hats and put a fresh coat of paint on the shocks and springs.

I guess I'm left with no choice but to rent spring compressors.

Also, there is no need to have the lift installed by a shop after seeing this. Leaf springs are cake after working on my old Cherokee...

You could still use this method. You'd have to install the new coilover first and then follow these steps to break it down and check things out though.

Some places like pep boys will break it down for you for a small fee. I just wouldn't trust them to reassemble it correctly. Use the method in the video to do that yourself.
