Backup Camera in Mirror AND Nav

The camera and harness that I purchased from nimrod1 comes with directions and photos. I did not feel comfortable installing the material so had a local car stereo shop take care of the installation for me. So, no - I do not have a write up (retired biology instructor - auto mechanical stuff is way outside my comfort zone).

 

OK. Do you have link for the kit from nimrod1 or do you just PM him?

tmreyes1, nimrod1 sells them on ebay. Here is a quote he made on an earlier post: "I sell them on eBay item # 161124706800 for 69.95 shipped regardless of the configuration. In other words whether you want to simply relocate the image to the radio, see it on both, add a switch to view full time,...etc. I would only charge more if you required multiple switches for various combination mods. I use all factory connectors and pins. There are several photos on the eBay listing. It basically plugs into a connector at the fuse box on the lower dash and runs up to radio and plugs in there"

 

Thanks. So when you put the truck in reverse the camera in the tailgate shows and when you flip the switch your front camera pops up. Correct?

 

tmreyes1, because my Tacoma is a 2012 the "backup camera" is displayed in the nav unit. With the kit that nimrod1 sold, my switch is used to activate the camera in the front grill. When this "Front" facing camera is activated, the image is displayed in the rear-view mirror (not in the nav unit, the nav uint only shows an image when the pickup is in reverse gear). Bob

Mine is a 2012 also and shows the rear view inage in the nav unit. This changed on the 2013 to display in the mirror. I have an extra camera that I got from a friend that switched his tailgate so I think I will look into this.

Can I replace the mirror in my 2011 with a larger one from a 2012 or newer? is it plug and play? What is a good source for the larger mirror?

 

Ok this is my first post on here. Was it determined if there is an over ride to force the backup cam to the mirror on 2012 models with Entune?
