My girlfriend's iPad mini got stolen tonight, does anybody know how I can track it? I tried downloading an app onto mine and trying to track her phone but it does not work it just tracks my own.
She downloaded the app find my iPhone but she has never set it up or used it.

Start watching craigslist, and other for sale sites. Offer a reward for its return. Make sure you report it to the Police, so if you do find the person responsible you can prove it's yours. I don't know if they have GPS chips or not. If they do the Authorities can access its location.

If they took the papers in your glove box I would report that info to the insurance company, and the state tag agency. They can get your VIN and other information off the paperwork in the GB and cause all sorts of hell.

    well about that insurance company.....
i literally just got this car so i havent gotten insurance on it yet. since i have full coverage on a different vehicle, they cover new vehicles for 10 days, so i havent done that yet....
so who should i call and what should i do?

they have her social, drivers license, checks, the title to my car (just got it put into my name and set it in the glovebox)
so i need to put a watch on her credit.

Get to DMV and report it. Must be something they can do to retitle it quickly.

Of course the stolen SSN thing is dangerous, but this could just be a punk who was looking for the thrill of the steal and doesn't really know what to do with identity items. The iPad was probably the big score and they're playing flappy bird on it right now while masturbating. You'll never find the device unless you can get into iCloud and even then they may have already screwed you out of that.

Homeowner's/renter's insurance will cover anything not bolted down to the car. Hopefully your deductible is less than the iPad was.

She will have to keep an eye on her credit for the next 6 months or so, at least.

okay can i just call the dmv? i hate dmvs
could a 3rd party dmv re title it?
im hoping it was just a punk, but the area we were in, it was most likely a crack head. they will do anything to get anything.
we are calling the 3 credit companies and putting an alert/watch on her credit.
the i pad was definitley the big score... i bet they sold it for 50 bucks and is shooting up right now.

will homeowners insurance cover it even though she was at the gym? and not our house?

i think her parents got the ipad for a smoking deal on black friday for $350

Does the gym have security cameras in the parking lot? It might be worth asking the manager or the building owner. I was in a parking lot fender bender and was initially assigned 30% responsibility (despite the fact that I wasn't moving and was laying on the horn). Security camera footage cleared everything up.

As a side bonus, after seeing the footage I now know which spots to use to make sure I'm covered.

im pretty sure there are security cameras out there, just not sure who owns them. safeway is right by it so i think they might be theirs. im going to go there tonight and talk with them.

The password should be the same as her iTunes password.
I believe that they would either have to answer her security question or have her old password to change the password, unless she is logged into her mail on the iPad and they did the "I forgot" thing.

Bottom line, if they changed the password she should have a E mail saying so.

Also, this is a good reason for people who (like me) have their email accounts and everything on a I device, to put a password lock on it.
