Is there a demand for these? I haven't heard or noticed any of you guys complaining about not having manual locking hubs...

problem is it doesnt get rid of the front actuator. unless u get the diff tube off the 6sp fj cruiser or wire up a switch to keep the actuator havin manual hubs would be pointless

You're still disconnecting the C/Vs from spinning all the time when "Unlocked"... that's got to save some wear on those boots and provide less rolling resistance for some mpg increase. That's why all the classic Toyota truck and runner guys put manual hubs on ADD equipped rigs and leave the actuator on the diff.

Most toyotas that have manual hubs that I've see don't have a add. My 92 doesn't, Barry's 4wd conversion doesn't that I know of. It's redundant and unnesecary to have both. The reason to have manual hubs is to get rid of the electronic part of the 4wd system that is prone to fail

The electric actuator that Toyota has used over the years in the front diff, tcase, and even rear diff locker is a piss poor design and is prone to fail and it's an expensive part to replace just for it to fail again

Agree with redundant and unnecessary. My 95 has ADD and the C/Vs spin all the time; theres a splined plate that locks the C/V shaft to the spindle. I'm planning to put manual locking hubs on it to stop that. When we hit the trail and are airing down tires, I'll lock the hubs (it will then be just like it is now). Then when I need 4WD, throw the lever.
Agree that the vacuum actuator and/or the electric position switch in the front diffs are a common failure point. Would it be nice to get rid of them? Sure, when I do a SAS they'll be gone.

So back to the original topic... What's the point of doing a manual hub on the newer Tacomas and T4Rs if you still have those parts?

    Morning Peeps!!

It would work good on our 4runner as there is no electronics for the 4wd...front always spin then you manual lock it in the transfer case via a stick

There really isn't other than to get rid of the electric crap. It would benefit me since I have a manual shifting tcase. I have a switch in my truck that I have to use to actuate the actuator before I pitot into 4wd. Manual hubs would be beneficial to me but at $2k I'll take the switch until my actuator breaks

Nope still selling it all. Actually feel a ton better now that I'm not worrying about mods and other shit.

Decided on a house vs the sailboat idea, and have my neighborhoods narrowed down.

After the 1st of the year, I most likely will yeah.

Looking at a 2011-2013 T4R or a VW Touareg Diesel AWD.

It's been fun and all, but the last 3 years have cost me multiple house down payments, and I'm getting to that point in my life where I work too much and my schedule is too crazy to really make use of an Overland or Adventure rig. I don't want to find myself being 30 with nothing to show for it, but a bunch of parts bolted onto my truck.

No worries just give me a shout.
