damn...just got laid off...in a text message

i just got laid off...in a text message...kinda a lowly way to lay someone off...but any suggestions for after school jobs, other than retail sales?

 

ive farmed worked on vehicles and i am a good business man

hours tuesday thursday friday saturday and sunday 4 30 - whenever

Are you absolutely sure its someone from whom you work for?

Gawd forbid, if someone is playing a joke or spam mail and you suddenly stop going to work. That'd be bad.

 

man that is a crap way to let someone go, have you had a chance make sure it's true?

 

Why text message? Were they scared you might retaliated against them? if it's legit I'm sorry to here that.

I broke up with a girl via text.... she said I was an asshole.

 

I remember when I did that last year. It wad bad. She had a lot of black girl friends so you could only imagine what i went through.

but the laid off part, man. that sucks. I need to look for a better paying job myself, both my parents are real estate agents so you know what that means in an economy as shitty as ours..

 

that sucks. Like what Janster said, i would make sure no one is pulling a prank on you.

we had a company that got no message... just shut off all phones and PC's with no message or warning... nothing... 600 people figured out that was it

 

wow, that sucks man. hopefully you can find another job. try fine dinning. i did that for a while to buy some stuff for the tacoma. or you could try construction its a hot job but it pays VERY well. i also did that. or you could go to work back into retail like lowes or something part time.

 

im not even sure that is legal! you have to sign papers and crap. theres no way thats legal

 

well, i think as long as they notify you its legal aint it? whats the notice like for that kind of thing?

 

As much as I hate to say this.... *twitch*.....fast food, retail stores, and gas stations are the only thing I can think of with hours flexible enough for school... Not many other places aren't m-f, 9-5. Or at least not a solid m-f. Even factories and machine shops are usually closed on weekends.

 

im pretty sure that you would have to at least sign some papers or something. there could be tons of problems sending a text to the workers just saying youve been laid off. not sure of the exact name for it but it is something like and unlawful layoff or something like that.
