Just a bunch of old crap
These kinds of threads make me sad. Sad for folks not doing their research on longevity and resale value.

I hope it works out for you, OP.

I'm not going off of hearing, or read this. I'm going off of experience. Like mentioned earlier we own 3 of each 3.5L eco, and 5.0L all 13's (General Contractor) They all pull trailers with an average of 5000 to 7000 lbs. 3.5L eco struggle with those loads. 3500 lbs. and less not a problem for the 3.5L eco's. The 3 - 3.5L are going away shortly and replaced with more 5.0L

OP for what it's worth I've heard good things about the ecoboost engines-- our next family vehicle will probably be an escape with the 4cyl 2.0 ecoboost that makes as much hp & torque as our 4.0 V6s!

    Hope you like the truck.

plus we have seen a few members come back to the dark side because they missed their tacos soo much.

Do what u gotta do for the family/hauling needs.
I agree, these trucks are too light in the rear end to tow much comfortably.... They CAN get good mileage, and last a long time.... But that means nothing if they cannot comfortably do the work you need them to accomplish.

Enjoy the new ride, hope ya stick around (this place is MUCH more than a tacoma site...more of a familia)............. and when u miss ur taco enough, we will still be here for ya and keep the garage stocked :)

I guess I should try. The thought of stopping is probably harder than stopping. Sucks I love it so much.

Nice choice on truck. Tacoma doesn't compare for towing. I still look at new Fords all the time. Overall they are meant for a work truck. Since I didnt need one for that anymore I opted for Toyota.

Yea, I'm not sure. I'm with you, I just enjoy it and have had zero problems...so far. It's the so far part that is my motivator.

I will admit . If i get my shaking to stop in my truck I will keep it at least another 5 years. But as soon as my daughter is out of her car seat and the new kid (possibly) is in a car seat. Tacomas gotta go. Just not enough room. I may keep it for whatever but will not be a daily driver anymore

My buddy has an ecoboost currently and tows his bass boat all over the country with it (not sure of the weight). He was thinking about buying a new truck this summer and we test drove a FX4 with the 5.0. They allowed us to take the boat out to the lake using it that night. It was everything that truck had to get out of its own way pulling the little boat through the flatlands of Kansas. His ecoboost will hurtle it down the highway at 80 no sweat. That being said I can't imagine that the mileage is great during that though, nor would it be for anything other than a diesel. Also, one of my work trucks is the 5.0 and I just honestly haven't been super impressed anyway. I drive that damn thing like a grandma and the best I can do is 14 mpg. I'm not saying that it's my way or the highway by any means, but just based on my hands on experience of both vehicles, I would personally go ecoboost if I were to buy a new Ford.

Personally, I don't have a trailer behind the truck but a handful of times per year so I certainly won't get a different engine just so that I can experience a 2 mpg increase for 2% of my driving. I'm looking at getting a new truck eventually here and I can say that the ecoboost is at least on my list. If the 5.0s work out best for you though, by all means do that.
