How can I find these guys hacking cats off? I think my truck might be in need of some new ones and then insurance would cover it.

Just come to Sacramento and leave your truck unattended in a parking lot or your drive way. Wait until you see a pair of legs sticking out from under your truck. Then drive truck over said legs until you have the thief pinned. Then talk prices with them. Probably get one pretty cheap too!

Looks like about $1500, quoted at three dealers (just in case the insurance people give me grief).

Well, I'll prob just have the dealer do it. We have a pretty low deductible.

Don't think this test pipe will fit your setup, but maybe A person would have to get the URD sensor to kill the check engine light as well Or other means of hacking and slashing to get the light out,,lol.

    http://www.lceperformance.com/O2-Simulator-Rear-5VZ-p/1020302.htm

A replacement cat for a 2.7 was $825 in 04. Almost doubled in price in 10 years. Still rockin the test pipe.

POS alarm didn't even go off, and it was armed.

If you have the means and the skills, you can make a test pipe alot cheaper than that,,and just put black tape over the check engine light if you please.

I'm in San Jose/Santa Clara OP and have seen some SKETCHY folk walking around my neighborhood.

Some scumbag got away with my sisters '91 accord close to a year ago with a bump key so despite living in a decent area, stuff still goes down.

I did get a "Protected by Mossberg" sign on the front yard and a very loud dog, who, while incredibly loving, is part pit and can be very intimidating should you cross him.

    Good luck with insurance, bud!

And if you want, I can PM you a site that makes cat converters "defense". The link is blocked on this site though... maybe a falling out in the past

just for sheez and giggs... http://www.********.com/ ???

    still blocked... wah wah

All good ideas. Maybe I'll have the muffler shop I'm going to today make me a legit test pipe with flanges in case it happens again.... Though being in ca, I prefer not to test our cops or emissions fanatics... :) commies

I've been riding my bike around for the past month or so because I'm trying to convince the GF that I made a financially sound decision getting a 1.8k road bike :p

So far I've saved almost $200. Only another 9 months to go

maybe then I can haz some kisses finally :D

Supposedly this product is supposed to protect them but I don't know how effective it'd be:
    http://www.********.com/

It's probably not fool-proof but in a parking lot, the solution doesn't need to perfect, yours just has to be harder to get than the car next to you.

^^I'm guess some people on this site have had issues with them in the past... Supposed to be Cat Clamp but I guess I'd do some research to find out why their black listed before giving them any money.

Right on, thanks! Hey, do you think there would be any issues temporarily straight piping it? Such as screwing up the o2 sensor or muffler or anything?

Temp fix, $60 to put a pipe in for the weekend. Also, I looked at the cv while on the lift and well... I guess I'm swapping cv's today.
